Discussion Post: 5 Books I Meant to Read in 2020 but Just Couldn’t

Hey Pals!! Today, I’m going to sharing 5 out of a gazillion books that I had intended to read in 2020, but as is the case with every typical, procrastinating, weird book lover, was just not able to 🙄😂.

This post was inspired by Kaya @ A Fictional Bookworm . So, thanks for the inspiration. Do check out her post, it was really cool!

Note: This is a discussion post, so feel free to share your views down in the comments so we can all chat.

1: The Girl who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhil

The cover! The title! The hype! Nothing else matters, I really wanted to read this book just because of these three factors. But as soon as I got my hands on it, all my excitement vanished. Please tell me it’s happened to you too and I’m not alone 😭.

2: Specials by Scott Westerfeld

Can I just say that the first two books in this trilogy- Uglies and Pretties, are utterly fantastic! I loved the first book, and I liked the second book too, and I just can’t wait to get to the third one. This is such a thin book, and I really wanted to finish the series, but I just don’t know why I never felt like reading it. Hope to get to it this year.

3: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

At this point, I’m actually really ashamed for not having read this book. Seriously, who am I kidding!? I am already in love with the synopsis, and I haven’t read many fiction books that deal with serious issues, so I’m like really excited to give this one a shot. Hopefully, I’ll end up loving it just as much as everyone else.

4: Save the Date by Morgan Matson

I have been meaning to try this author’s books since a really long time now and I had finally decided to start with Save the Date, but…will it be weird to say that I don’t even have a proper reason for not picking it up, except that I just wasn’t in the mood? I hope not.

5: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I had literally even started this book and was like one or two chapters in when I stopped cause a) I didn’t feel like reading another series cause b) It requires a lot of commitment when c) The first book is pretty long in itself and d) The hate opinions about it kinda turned me off. So, there you go!

Bonus book which nobody asked for 😃:

6: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

I.Love.This.Book’s.Cover 😍! *makes a mental note to buy it on her birthday, so the long wait can finally be over*

So, that was all for me. What are your thoughts on it? Have you read any of these books? What is a book you meant to read in 2020, but were never able to? Let me know in the comments 😀.

  1. The girl who drank the moon and The hate U give have such pretty covers. I am instantly drawn to books with such pretty covers.
And it happens to me too – that I lose excitem after buying a book. I really wanted to read the part 2 of the Seven Sisters series and asked my friend to gift me the book (😛). And literally once I got the book, I just couldn’t get myself to read it. It’s been on my desk for the last 2 months. 🙈

  2. 2020 was when I used to read two books on the same day. And I haven’t read any of these books😂 All I did was read, then. But 2021 has sucked all my interest in reading books. And I seriously don’t know why🤷 I have to read so many books, but I’m not finding time to read them😞

  3. Gosh, I definitely relate to your dilemma, Nehal! 😂 Also, I’ve read all of these except the first two, and definitely think you should make The Hate U Give a priority! It’s sooo good! I’m not a huge fan of the Red Queen series, thought the Raven Boys was okay but not mind-blowing, and while I absolutely adore all of Morgan Matson’s books, Save the Date is probably my least favorite one of them… But don’t let me influence your decision-making too much!

  4. Oh the Girl Who Drank The Moon!! I have been wanting to read it because I want to know what all that hype is about, but it is still not very high up on my TBR, and I am not quite motivated to read it for some reason. Let me know if you decide to read it, maybe we can buddy read it….someday.
