5 Wishes for 2023

Hey Pals!! A very happy new year to y’all!! Man do I hope everybody has an amazing year ๐Ÿฅฐ๐ŸŽ†๐Ÿ˜€. Yeah, I’m late, but it’s still January, so we’re good.

2022 for me was just… unique. It was highly unexpected. The fact that I started serious preparation for JEE, something I never thought I would do, says enough. Apart from that this year has also been very refreshing because I felt a lot of different feelings and also learnt how to handle stuff better than I used to. Not gonna lie, as tough and stressful preparing for a competitive exam can be, it’s also nice knowing the fact that having a purpose in life leaves little time for other thoughts.

But I’m not gonna bore you with details and just get to the point. So, here are 5 hopes for 2023:

1: I hope Covid doesn’t return

There has been news that Corona virus is returning, hell there have even been a few cases in my own city and it’s really upsetting. My world had finally seemed to have returned to normal and I don’t want online life to be back and ruin it all again. Neither do I want any more deaths, we’ve all experienced a more-than-enough dose of them to last several lifetimes, I’m sure.

2: I hope to become more focused

I really need to achieve this as soon as I can. Rather than toiling on questions when I know I’m not in the mood to be doing them, I need to learn when to take a break and return with boosted energy. Studies have become such a routine that I often let my efficiency go to rot just to keep working, which isn’t the perfect technique to crack an exam. Not to mention, even when I’m in the right mood, my mind wanders so much to anything stupid or silly that I end up getting so frustrated that I can barely stay alert.

3: I hope the people I love learn to stay happier this year

I’m not gonna mention who, but there are certain people in my life that I wish just stay happy, you know? With all the struggle that life is shoving at them, it’s rare when I see them smile. And those moments are so precious that for that small time, I forget all my worries somehow and feel pleased just to see them smile. So, I hope they learn that it’ll all get better someday and just manage to stay happy.

I also hope all of you stay happy too. Happy is such a nice way to be ๐Ÿฅบ.

4: I hope we all procrastinate less

When we know we are only unnecessarily overthinking about something, why do we still do it?

I swear if this keeps up, procrastination will one day be the death of all of us. We really need to learn how to chill and enjoy life. When I was in 9th and 10th standard, I always used to take so much for granted. It’s not really my fault, I mean 14 was a new age with lots of new things and changes in just about everything, which was hard to adjust to. And there were times I was so irritated with life, for whatever reasons- we all have our own. And now, I just think how I could’ve just let it all go and enjoy it more ๐Ÿ˜‚? It’s kinda sad but I’m glad I’ve learnt from it.

Considering I never thought I would take dummy schooling and prepare for JEE, things just keep getting more and more hectic. Not just me, my friends and old classmates, people in the blogosphere, everybody seems to be getting sadder. And it’s all because of this stupid procrastination. I really wish it goes away, man.

5: I hope I learn how to manage time

If there is one person who can’t manage time, that’s me. Let me tell you how it is.

To cope with the preparation of the massive exam that I’ll be giving in a little more than a year, I’ve stopped doing pretty much anything except eat, study, sleep and repeat. I’ve lost touch with half of my friends. My guitar is collecting dust in the corner. My back hurts like I’m the oldest 16 year old on the planet. My eyesight is getting so bad I can’t even see my own nails properly without spectacles. And I’m pretty sure if I tried singing I’ll sound like a drowning duck.

But that’s still fine, you know? I mean, I’m only exaggerating half of it. I do enjoy being focused on my studies. It helps me keep away from other useless thoughts and it feels like my life has purpose. So, it’ll all be worth it ๐Ÿ˜Œ.

But I NEED to learn how to manage stuff and devote a bit more time to my health, my blog and my family.

So, here’s to figuring stuff out โœŒ๏ธ.

I don’t know why this post is making me feel weird. Like I’m not sure how my readers will respond to it so I’m kinda worried. It’s quite different from what I usually write.

But anyway, I hope you enjoyed it! Lemme know something that you wish for to happen in 2023, down in the comments ๐Ÿ˜€.

Christmas is cominggg!! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐ŸŽ„

HAVE A VERY HARRY CHRISTMAS, PALS!!!!! (Haha, that’s a Harry Potter reference btw).

I’ll never know why I use weird gifs-

I’m curious what all you’re doing this Christmas. Personally, I’m not gonna be doing anything since we don’t really celebrate Christmas. Hell I’m sure if it wasn’t Sunday, we probably would’ve had a test on 25th ๐Ÿ™‚.

Not that I would’ve minded though, I kinda love my coaching?

Yup, you’re seeing the nerd side of me. Even I didn’t know I had it.

Anyway, I hope Santa who doesn’t exist (haw Nehal, how could you be cruel enough to say that ๐Ÿ˜ค) fulfil all your wishes (see, I’m not that cruel ๐Ÿฅฐ).

So, whatcha up to on Christmas? Lemme know down in the comments!

So…how’s life?

Hey Pals!!

Yup, that definitely felt good to type. It’s been so long. I don’t know if anybody noticed but I’ve been barely active and thinking about WordPress made me sad because I felt like I was losing connection. And I don’t want that. This is my favourite platform. Pretty much one of the first ones that I ever used and one that made me the most happy.

So, hi. How are you? Tell me what’s up. Do you remember me, lol? What good happened today? Or what bad? And you know that it’ll get better, right? It will. What did you eat today? It’s been so long since I’ve had ice cream ๐Ÿ”– that’s the wrong emoji-

You get me. Tell me anything! What did I miss? I love you all and I don’t wanna disappear again.

The Functions Book Tag |where we talk about โœจmathโœจ|

I’m doing a tag in so long yayyyy…!!

Hey Pals!! So, today I’m doing The Functions Book Tag! I was tagged for this by the evi amazing Naemi, who also happens to be the creator, probably the first person to bring Maths in relation to books, which I think is pretty awesome! So anyway, let’s get started!!

  • Thank the person who nominated you!
  • Ping-back to the original creator, Naemi @ A Book Owlโ€™s Corner, so that she can sneakily read your answers and be thrilled at how much attention math is getting within the bookish community!
  • Answer all the prompts while appreciating the mathematical beauty contained in them! (Youโ€™re more than welcome to use the original graphics so that all the canva and GeoGebra work the creator put into them will be worth itโ€ฆ)
  • Tag some people! Five would be best, since five is obviously the coolest natural number out there, but any other quantity works, too.

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart.

Whether this book is good or bad will remain a never ending debate. Personally, I found it meh. The ending was terrifying though it was a cheap shot because it was very unrelated to anything that was happening and just seemed to be there to shock everybody. Still, it grabbed my attention. But apart from that, the rest of the book was boring.

I guess Divergent by Veronica Roth…and yeah, I have an unpopular opinion where I say I loved the ending. People hate it but I think that it was a nice little twist.

The first book is my favourite in the entire trilogy, but Insurgent and the majority of Allegiant didn’t have much happening. Had it not been for the characters and the amazing narration I would have been bored out of my mind.

Secret Seven by Enid Blyton. This was the first book that got me into reading novels. But I had started reading other stuff since long before then. Like there are these Hindi comic book things like Champak, Billu, Pinki, Chacha Chaudhary…I used to read them from a very young age too ๐Ÿ˜‚. Aah, those were the days *cries*

I will choose A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’engle.

This book is just so freaking weird, I can’t believe it’s gotten so hyped because it is just dumb. Sure, it’s great if you’re reading it as a beginner and have no idea whatsoever about the greatness of actual sci-fi books. But apart from that, it was very all over the place and the characters were all one dimensional. And the plot, what was that ๐Ÿ˜ญ?! The book had so much potential but it just didn’t work.

Can we first just appreciate the fact how I’m actually answering a trigonometric prompt instead of evilly not using it even though trigonometry almost managed to be the death of me?! Can we, can we?!!

Yep, we can.

I choose The House of Hades by Rick Riordan.

I’ll never be over the amazingness of this book. How it made me laugh so bad and then also tore my heart at so many places. From having some of the best moments of all characters in the entire series, to having the darkest moments as well as the best humor, this book just tops all of Rick Riordan’s other writings.

Bold of you to assume I would read such a book, much less allow it to pollute my memory ๐Ÿ™‚.

However, if you’re talking about pie as in the one we eat and not the one that has a monstrously large number of terms after the decimal point, then I can choose…

Nope, still dunno any book that has pies in it, edible or not.

Like Naemi, I’m not a fan of footnotes either. Thankfully, I haven’t read too many books that had footnotes in them.

The one that I have read is Whichwood by Taherah Mafi.

But that was a pretty great book, so no worries there. It’s not as famous as her other books but it really should be since it’s really nice…I realise this is the point where you might expect me to go on to describe the greatness of the book and what struck me as the crucial thing for it be so good, but you’ll have to cut me some slack here because my therapist here (aka my ghost) thinks I should hurry and get back to more important tasks like you know, ideally lying down and wasting time.

Hehe, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix probably. Also, since I’ve read The Kite Runner I guess that’s pretty close too but I feel like I owe Harry Potter more than The Kite Runner. So yup, there’s that.

I hate logs ๐Ÿ˜ญ. Mainly because I feel like I haven’t mastered them properly. But anyway, you don’t need to hear my sorry tales.

A book featuring journal entries is ahem, Diary of a Wimpy Kid ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Yup, count on me to go from talking about intense books like The House of Hades to talking about Wimpy Kid. But I mean…it’s a great series okay? Not all its books are good but most of them are, and they provide a nice change from reading high fantasy and the like.

Oh, like every single classic out there? Lol.

I’ll be choosing The Well of Ascension for this one, the second book in the Mistborn trilogy. You see, I devoured the first book and fell head over heels ๐Ÿ‘  in love with it. But it was just so freaking huge, and so so intense. And I bet the next two books are gonna be even more intense. I really wanna read it but it’s the kind of story that really impacts how my mood is and I’m not ready for it to do that yet. I don’t think I’ll be able to study at all once I start reading it.

I’ll just be rereading the final book in the Magnus Chase trilogy- The Ship of the Dead, as of now. I’ve already read it twice but I’m not looking for something too addicting, and these books are my comfort reads. So, I’ll read this hehe.

I tag (no pressure, guys):

Ps- Evil me skipped one of the prompts. Naemi, I hope you don’t mind ๐Ÿ‘€. I didn’t have an answer for that one so I had to.

That’s it! I hope you enjoyed reading it. What are your thoughts on the subject Maths? Do you despise it, or do you love it? Or are you like me, dangling somewhere in the middle, not fully aware of your own delicate feelings? Lemme know in the comments ๐Ÿ˜€.

In too deep…

The lights are out. The house is eerily quiet. Not even Shanky’s usual barking can be heard. It’s like I can almost feel the waves of melancholy drifting from you just by standing out here. How you must be lying alone, unable to sleep because your mind is probably a tangled mess, your hand cold without mine in it.

I can walk to the porch and knock at your door. I can break down in front of you and beg you to take me back. And then I can fall into your open arms as you hold me tight, and whisper that youโ€™ll never let go. I can do it. One step, just one word from me and you’ll be there. Just like you always were.

A sad smile forms on my lips. There is this desperate urge to have you back. Not hunger, just…need. Yet I know I wonโ€™t do it. Not now, and not ever again, for I know how this will end. With us in tears. With me letting go. Again.

I see the flicker of a tiny light in your room. Did you somehow know I must be there? I hastily turn on the ignition right as you open the doorway. I don’t have the guts to catch your eyes. I don’t think I can stand to see the broken look in them again. Heart thumping, I steer the car to my home.

We decided itโ€™s for the best,
We decided itโ€™s been a long time coming.

I turn the key of my house, and stand alone at the door. I imagine your bright smile, your twinkling eyes when you used to welcome me home, how you would go on and on about your day.

I try not to hold on to these whispers of the past. To your smile, your lips, your everything. Itโ€™s for the best, I remind myself.

It is, right?

For when I fell for you, I fell hard.
I jumped without thinking, without knowing, without caring. I ran blindly into the wild, thinking it was wrong and dangerous yet never daring to go back. But then the trees gave way to a lake filled with lilies and roses and I saw no reason to hold back. It was bliss like I had never known, it was love in its purest form.

But now the lake has turned into an ocean of unshed tears, all the blue in it has bleached. I flail helplessly in the inky black waters, gasping and thrashing for life. Iโ€™m drowning, choking on memories which were once my saviour. My love for you is hurting me, killing me. And I canโ€™t find my way back.

I canโ€™t let go, can’t breathe. This pain is too real, too sweet.

And Iโ€™m already in too deep.

The last bit is inspired by the song- In Too Deep by Why Don’t We, which is a must hear song! Go check it out, also lemme know how you liked this story!

The Book Character Awards! (a bookalicious initiative)

I have been planning this for sooo longgg and itโ€™s finally time to execeute! So, I find it unfair that we do not have overhyped award ceremonies for book character like we do for actors who play character. I mean fictional people are only ever the best. So, I came up with this idea to [โ€ฆ]

Hey Pals!! So, here’s another six word story for y’all.

Hush, close your eyes…just feel.

The Randomness Tag

Not that I consider myself to be just a random puny little human bean, but this sounded like a fun little tag that I randomly came across (hehe, bad pun.)

Hey Pals!! Today, I am doing The Randomness Tag. I was tagged by none other than our very own Riddhi @ Whispering Stories. It feels so nice to be able to tag her after so long, I can’t remember the last time I tagged some friend lol.

Also fun fact- I don’t like any post that has the word random in its title. Buttttt, I make an exception here because this tag is short, weird and fun, and just the perfect kind I can write when on a study break. So, let’s do it.

  1. Link to the Original post.
  2. Thank the person who nominated you.
  3. Tag the person who nominated you.
  4. Ask YOURSELF 5 questions to answer!
  5. Nominate as many people as you want!

What am I most looking forward to at this moment?

Honestly…sleep. I just attended a two-hour long online chemistry class (yes, on Sunday! and yes, it ended precisely at 11:28 pm!) in which I realized that my Stoichiometry basics are worse than I expected, which kind of surprises me because I already thought I was bad at it, but heh, I guess I exceeded my own expectations ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

SOooOoOOoo yea, I be feelin’ a lil’ shleepy-. I’ll just schedule this post for tomorrow morning.

What is my favorite song at the moment?

I am really enjoying Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara currently. In fact, it is playing in the background as I am writing this post. Here is the link if anyone wants to check it out if they haven’t heard of it:

What is the book I am reading at the moment?

Bwahaha, bold of you to assume I am reading anything but SL Loney and other textbooks.

I started reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer for the third time. Yes, I really do love it. It feels so much like home. Besides, I needed something that was relaxing and not addicting so I could have a bit of relief whenever I read it.

What colour T-shirt am I wearing?

Dark blue. It says “MALDIVES” on it even though I haven’t been outside India. I got it as a gift.

What is the tune playing in my head right now?

Friends by Why Don’t We. I almost always have a Why Don’t We song stuck in my head.

I Tag:

That’s all. I hope you enjoyed it. Let me know what song tune is playing in your head right now, down in the comments ๐Ÿ˜€.

3 Hard Lessons to Learn in Life ๐Ÿ˜ต

Ever felt that a particular piece of advice was so good that if you could just put it into practice, your life could get so much better? If you felt that, you are not alone. Today, I will be talking about three things which once mastered can change your life in the most wonderful way. Yet, they are so hard and do annoyingly obvious that we often forget about them. We all know about these things yet they are too difficult to do. So let us talk about three things that we all know we should do but are unable to. Let’s begin!!

1: We Know That We Should Manage Time

I mean, come on now, I have never heard a single person say that they manage their time well, that they do things before it is too late. We know that time is valuable but we still avoid acknowledging its value because we don’t have time for it. Does this even make sense? Lol! ๐Ÿ˜†

2: We Know That We Should Stop Worrying About What People Think About Us

This hardly works because in a small part of our hearts, we do care about what people think about us. And though we know full well that it doesn’t matter, when we are in a situation like this, we can’t help but think what that particular person we met just thought of us. This leads us to think that we aren’t good enough which is a stressful way to feel. Not that everybody feels that, but I do, a little bit.

3: We Know That We Shouldn’t Compare Ourselves With Others

When it comes to studies or pretty much anything, I compare myself sooooo much, it’s a pain in the butt!

Comparing gives birth to envy and self-loathing. You would be completely satisfied with your grades until you would ask the class topper how well they did. Is there any day in life when we don’t compare ourselves with others? Frankly speaking, the answer is a big NO. Comparing comes so naturally that we often don’t even realize when we are doing it.

What do you think? Have you succeeded in mastering any of the above points? Let me know your thoughts in the comments ๐Ÿ˜€.

Six Word Story #18

Keeping with the theme of 15th August, here’s a six word story:

Cheers to India’s freedom and glory!

A very Happy Independence Day to my fellow Indians ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿคฉ. It’s been 75 years of independence for our nation, and I feel so lucky to be a part of this country. I hope India gets all kinds of success in the coming years, and its citizens bloom and bring pride to our motherland!
