WHAT DID I JUST DO 😱

Okay guys, I did a big mistake! I don’t know how it happened it just did 😭.

I accidentally posted two of my posts (I didn’t post them, I just realized they posted themselves, god knows why 🙂).

I HATE WORDPRESS 😡

I apologize to those who already commented, I won’t be able to reply 😅😕.

One is a stupid poem I wrote once and the other is dedicating songs to you all. Nobody read those posts please! Especially not the songs one! Coz ugh, the draft isn’t even completed, how did that blog post itself without asking me first 😤.

Okay, that makes no sense, but that’s exactly what happened! I did not post them.

Just promise me if it still shows in your Reader you won’t read it please 😭.

PLEASE 🙂🔪🔪.

Reacting to your First Impressions of Me

Hey Pals!! So a little while back I asked y’all to leave me your first impressions of me, and what you think of me now. I got a good number of responses. And today, I’ll be reacting to them! 😀

Akshita @ akshita1776

My first impression of you was that you’re a geeky bookworm but it has changed a bit coz I removed the geeky part and inserted cool and added sarcastic 😁😁

Wow, that’s a nice compliment 😎. Thanks a ton!

Anushka @ Anushka Stories

My first impression of u was that u are a total bookworm who was very much interested in romantic novels and all that stuff!! I still don’t know if u are but reading all romantic posts on WP by bloggers have certainly made me that type of girl!!!

So a lot of people did assume that I was a nerdy bookworm, but I was not really into romantic novels when I was new to blogging. Now, on the other hand, I totally read them from time to time. And yeah, WordPress has definitely influenced me too, just a little bit 😂.

Shivani @ Storytime with Shivani

First impression-
Booknerd with spectacles on, introvert, less talkative
Now-
Booklover with spectacles on, super sarcastic, humourous, supportive blogger, and sweet ❤❤

Spectacles on 😂!? Anyways, you were right about that after all. But as you might have realized, I am actually super talkative. Since LKG (I finally know what it stands for 😌), my teachers have always complained to my parents on the PTM about how talkative I am, and that’s not even an exaggeration. Also, I love how you think I’m sweet and supportive!

Ashmita @ the fictional journal

I feel like my first impression of you and the present thing is pretty much the same. Sarcastic, fun-loving, loyal (I don’t know if you are, but I feel like you are) and more sarcastic lol. And now I present is pretty much the same except MORE sarcastic and wonderful friend

Well, thank you! I realize I’ve made quite a reputation at being sarcastic here on WordPress, haha. And dude, you’re an amazing friend too!!

Pannaga @ A Tomboy’s Attic

First impression: Nehal, again from her bitmoji, looked like a very serious person and I know there’s nothing serious about her bitmoji. Like, she’s coming out of an apple people! What’s so serious about it? I don’t know. But I thought so. And I didn’t think she would be funny. I thought she was a nerd in short. BUT…
What I think of her NOW: Very funny. (Not more than me though) She loves sarcasm. And I like it. Very modest. Can do wonders, but she doesn’t think so. She is not the serious type and I seriously can’t imagine her like that. But I think she can be serious when necessary? I don’t know. She can be lazy sometimes? I really don’t know. But she’s really cool! And she worries about Tee a lot!

This actually sounds amazing! You thought I was serious!? I guess I can be serious when I want to be, which happens quite often but y’all haven’t witnessed that. And yeah, I know my Bitmoji rocks (just kidding, it’s kinda weird, but that’s the point of it, isn’t I!?). And ah, I’m flattered! Thanks for all the praise dude! Yup, I definitely can be lazy. Who isn’t lazy these days!? Worries about Tiction!? 😂 I don’t know what to say to that lol. Thank you though 😀.

Riya @ Riya’s World

My first impression:
Total nerd! Your bitmoji is a little weird but NOW I like it!
A big book work, introvert and not cool at all!!!!
But now I think you are pretty Cool! And I kinda like your bitmoji also!
I short I love your blog

My bitmoji is weird and it’s because of the fact that I love apples to the core (no pun intended 🙃). I am so glad your opinion of me changed, thanks for the praise, Riya. I love your blog too!

Flora @ Flora’s Week Show

My first thoughts: You LOVED books and you’re a total bookworm. Now: caring, loving and friendly blogger.]

Sweety sweet comment!

Silver Stone @ The Bored Side of the Phone

My 1st impression is (like others say) that you were a very studious bookworm, and a die-hard Potter head; and your favourite subject is literature and favourite genre of books is YA.

Now: my impression of you is that you’re a really sweet, creative, hilarious and a supportive blogger with a lot of sass!

Oh yeah, I am a Potterhead, and my favorite subject is, in fact, literature. Wow, nice impressions! Thanks buddy!

Ariel @ Ariel on the Go

Bookworm and you love to eat healthy food!

Healthy food? What is that? Lol no, I only love apples in healthy.

Anna @ Anna’s Styles

My first impression was that you were a book worm or book freak, an extrovert and a caring person.

All are correct, except that I am not an extrovert, more of an ambivert.

Riddhi @ Whispering Stories

My first impression of you was that you are a very serious person, who’s probably in college or something, and that you were like very mature and stuff. I also thought you were a goody two shoes, idk why.

What I think of you now: You are definitely not a goody two shoes. You are sweet when you wanna be, otherwise your usual vibe is sarcastic
You are also younger than me (surprise, surprise) and you are definitely not mature or serious. Not in a bad way, though.

What, me in college 😳!? Omg, whoa! Thank God you know me now 😂. Also yeah, I am not mature in my opinion, but I can be serious sometimes, though in several situations, I stress over the fact that I gotta be serious and so I end up laughing instead 🙂.

Athira @ Crosswalk

A bookworm and a talented girl...

Short and pleasing, thank you!

Ritz @ Living, Loving and Reading

First impression:
I thought you were a super-smart bookworm who read a bunch of romances and contemporaries. I thought you were really formal. I also thought you were really nice
. Now: Now I don’t think your formal, and I still think you love books! You’re sarcastic and fun. And you’re positive.

You assumed nothing wrong, I do love contemporaries and romances. Though I do not know about the positive part, in public sure, in my own head, I am a totally different person *sighs*.

Poorwa @ Poorwa’s blog

First impression:
You are a complete bookworm with a similar personality with me. It was my biggest assumption about you that you’re from Mumbai. The first talk I remember with you was the one when I did the GIF y love tag, it was the second tag I did on my blog and I had no idea that we could be friends.

What I think now:
You’re very funny and friendly. And I think you’re the kind of person who stays with her closest friends only and make them laugh. Your friendly behaviour always makes me smile. I still don’t know your favorite music artists and confused that you like bts or not, but once you said you love ’em. Overall you have a positive attitude and I love it.

I’m gonna be totally honest, sometimes even now I think the two of us have quite similar personalities, yet so different! And ah, well my sister used to live in Mumbai so 😂. Lol, I remember the long GIF-y Love chats we had in your comments. Aw, that is literally so sweet. Yes, I do stay with my close friends a lot, but I really like interacting with other people, unless I have to make small talk, which uh…I am not good at. My favourite music artists keep changing haha, right now it’s BlackPink and Why Don’t We, and I was always a Directioner and Swiftie. I like BTS but I am definitely nowhere near being an ARMY. Thanks a lot, Poorwa!

Kripaa @ Dream Diaries

Well , my first impression abt u 🙂
Was that u r a time wasting blogger ( honestly Nehal .., don’t feel bad yaar) that was d tym when I didn’t even open ur blog n made up an impression in my mind that too randomly !
Bt as read ur posts I started likening them ,. N in one comment I read , that u were frm agra .., oh hell trust me ,
That made me believe u were more than just excellent .., because u were frm agra .., n ur posts weren’t time wasting 🤓.
Then I slowly realised that u were an awesome frnd as well ,
Frm d first day I knew that u were a book nerd .. n I was happy to c that u liked Harry Potter ..! Cuz I believe, Potterhead’s r d best ppl who exist

Now I think —
* Bahut hi Shandar blogger ho tum .., waah waah * in agra ki accent 😂

Okay, *ahem ahem* I am going to pretend that I did not read your first line 🙂.

Seriously, TIME WASTING BLOGGER 😤🤐. I am shook! I am devastated! I am livid! I am…I am….*ahem* Okay, I am done.

Okay so, you did not like my posts, you only liked the fact that I am from Agra and that I am a Potterhead, *ahem* I see how it is….🙂

I am just kidding by the way 😂, pulling your leg…..or am I 😏🙄?

Naemi @ A Book Owl’s Corner

My first impression of you was that you were an enthusiastic bookworm who absolutely loves to engage in long comment chains. To be honest, that hasn’t really changed much, though… Just add lots of snarky sarcasm, great Harry Potter love, and loads of creativity to the mix!❤️.

Haha, thanks. I do love long comments, I mean, who doesn’t!? Aren’t they just the best!? Aw, thanks Naemi.

Alexa @ A Fangirl’s Hideaway

First impression: Super smart, fun, and I thought it was so cool that you loved to read, because I do too! (And I also loved your bitmoji when I first saw it which made me think further that you loved to read!)

Yay, hifi!

Sakshi @ Art Enthusiastics

My first impression of you was that you are an avid book lover, introvert and shy.

Yes, I am an avid book lover, but I am not shy, just an ambivert.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Thanks for posting the impressions, I loved reacting to them 😀.

That day…

It was the day when I let out my frustration on her,
The day I wasn’t there for her,
The day when she needed me the most.

It was the day when she couldn’t take away my pain,
The day she was the reason for my pain,
The day I finally knew what pain is.

It was the day when I didn’t humour her,
The day I let my pride come in the way,
The day I let myself be myself, just for once.

It was the day when life felt too cruel,
The day it felt cruel enough for me to hurt her,
The day I will regret the most.

I lost a friend that day.

5 Things I Find Highly Overrated

Hey Pals!! I hope you’re doing good. So today, I’ll be sharing 5 Things that I find Highly Overrated.

So these are not going to be very specific (except for one), like a particular shade of the colour pink or something similar. Plus not all of them are going to be bookish. These are going to be general stuff like…you’ll see. And I don’t know what else to say in the intro, so *ahem*, let’s just get started. Hope you have fun seeing me rant.

Disclaimer– What follows are personal opinions and preferences and I do not mean to insult anyone’s opinions. Also, this is a discussion post so feel free to share your views down in the comments.

1: Happy Endings in Contemporary Stories

Underline contemporary stories because honestly, I am sick of happy endings, especially in YA novels. That is the major reason I am avoiding romances these days, I am so done with everything ending happily. For one, the author writes an engrossing plot where nothing seems to be working out for the main character and then when things finally start falling into place, much to nobody’s surprise, they break apart. And that’s the point where things get interesting, because who does not love drama? But then, the author just ruins it by ending the book on the happiest note possible, and I am like…what!?

Now, don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with happy endings, not many people would read heartbreaking stuff. But I have just had an overdose of it. It just depends on how you write it. For instance, the book can still end on a happy note, but things just shouldn’t go from I CAN’T DEAL WITH THIS to WOW MY LIFE JUST GOT PERFECT in the span of three chapters ’cause that’s highly unrealistic. You’re telling me the character’s mother had serious mental health problems until the last chapter and the next day, everything is okay and the two are having a happy meal at McDonald’s, which reminds me that I haven’t had a McPuff since ages 🤧, but that’s beside the point-

I am sick of things ending way too perfect for the characters. All of a sudden, all their worries are gone!? One author in whose books I have seen happy endings is Kasie West (and don’t kill me, I still love her). I have read five books by this author and each one of them was great until that end just wrapped everything up oh-so-perfectly and ruined it all. How about you end the book on a hopeful note instead, the beginning of something better for the characters, instead of writing pitch-perfect endings?

2: Quotes

Hands down, quotes are the most overrated things out there. I have gotten to this point where I don’t even think most motivating quotes do anything but demotivate us. And the thing is, quotes are so much out there. Everywhere you look is a quote. You just saw a quote on somebody’s Whatsapp status, you just saw a quote on somebody’s blog, you just saw a quote in somebody’s bio, you just saw a quote walking down the street. I mean, just give it a rest people! I don’t need to know your stupid life lessons, my mother gives me an *ahem* more-than-enough dose of that daily ☺.

But that’s not to say that quotes are bad, I mean there are some quotes that have helped me a lot, but some are just utter garbage. Like this-

Aspire to inspire before we expire.

Don’t tell me you did not have to read this at least twice to understand what it means 🙄. And honestly, this is utterly useless. Like how is this supposed to help me? If you think I can make a change in the world, oh well you’re highly wrong, for I know my capabilities, and instead of letting me accept that, you’re trying to make me feel guilty about it. Thank you, next.

3: Bookish Memes

I know this might come as a surprise but seriously, I don’t think bookish memes are all that great. Most of them are just variations of the same thing and I cannot even remember the last time one made me laugh or think- “Now this is what a meme is supposed to be like.” Not to mention, I find them very exaggerated. Like yeah, I am a reader too, so I can relate to most of the things that they are trying to imply, but whoa, some of them are just ludicrous. Take this one, for instance:

I am telling you, one more time somebody tells me that they don’t like people who dog-ear their pages, they are out of my good books before they can say dog-ear 😤. I would just like to make a point here that I do not do that if you’re wondering due to my sudden outburst. But even if I did, I would not think it a bad thing, because it honestly is not. Seriously, people can do whatever they want to with their books, stop making such a big deal about it. Moving on, here is another one I don’t like-

Ugh, this one is so overused! Also, I am done ranting.

I guess I am not…

Is this supposed to be funny!? 😵 I mean, give it a rest, bookish memes are so hyped (for me).

Moving on to a little serious topic, I have…

4: Death~

By this, I do not mean losing someone due to them dying. That is anything but overrated because it is like an irreplaceable loss. By death being overrated I mean this concept of death that either scares people or wants them to give up on life because both of them are just so not good for our health. Do you know how people say without thinking that they want to die and they mean it as a joke, or how some people get suicidal thoughts, thinking death is better? That, I think, is the most overrated thing out there. There is this big talk about death, death death. It is just highly overrated. If people stop making such a big deal about death, they could live their lives so much better. And I am not saying this as an expert because I have my thoughts regarding death, and the thing is, life is so much better without thinking of death, and yet everybody, even me, thinks about it at some point. That just makes it way too hyped, and not in a good way.

And last, I have the thing that is more specific than the others, and that is….

5: This “🙂” Emoji

So here’s a meme I found-

I swear every time someone uses this emoji to show hate, anger, sass or anything, I want to go and puke. I have legit had my more-than-fair share of this emoji and I just hate it. This is me officially declaring that I absolutely despise this emoji 😭. For one, why in the name of Merlin’s hair does it look so bald 🤯!? Like I know all emojis are bald, but this one just looks so ughingly (is that a word?) bald that I just wanna go and puke. You know what, I’ll go and puke. Meanwhile, my very reliable ghost will continue the post-

*Nehal’s ghost has replaced her* Um, I– I uh… I don’t know what to say—

*Nehal has kicked the ghost out* Can’t do one job properly now, can you (Here I cringe because this was not at all funny)!? Uff anyways, I didn’t puke, by the way.

So anyway, look at it. Just freaking look at it and tell me if you don’t hate it already. It’s like the most obnoxious and scary thing out there.

So yeah, I just hate this emoji. Not to mention my friends love it so much that now they use it in irrelevant ways and it just makes me want to…yes, puke. Like they will be like- I have a class in 5 *the emoji*. I mean just stop the sarcasm please 😭. And this is highly ironic coming from me because I happen to be the one because of whom most of my friends use this emoji in the first place, but I just hate it, ugh! 🤧

So, that was all I had. I hope you enjoyed this very long post though I didn’t intend to make it this long. Do let me know something that you find very overrated, down in the comments 😀.

Ps- Does my site’s font look too small?

Harry Potter Emoji Quiz Results!

Hey Pals!! So a little while ago, I created a Google Form quiz where you had to guess the Harry Potter characters by emojis. Quite a lot of you participated, and today, I’ll be sharing the results 😀.

Note: Due to the fact that one of the questions was not visible to most people, I have given .5 marks to those who couldn’t attempt it. Yes, I am very generous, you can’t tell me otherwise 😃. So first, here are the answers-

1: 🔮🎴🐕‍🦺☕💭

This is Sybill Trelawney duh! Most of you got it right. Though the emoji depicting the Grim looks kinds funny in my Android not gonna lie 😂.

2: 👩‍🦰🧹😳

This is our Ginny Weasley. She couldn’t help blushing whenever she encountered Harry in the second book. Again, many of you got it right.

3: 👛😼🖋️😊

I am surprised that so many of you thought this was Hermione. I mean, it kinda would be, but the more accurate and intended answer was Dolores Umbridge. The pink handbad, the cat, the torturous pen especially and the final emoji, showing her smug face at building terror in the students’ faces.

See the smug look!!

4: 👧🏻🥲👻🚽

So yeah, I think the last two emojis are a big giveaway, and kudos to almost everyone who got it right. This is our Moaning Myrtle (quickly scratches the moaning part in case she’s lurking nearby 👀).

5: 👩🏻‍🦳😴📔

This is supposed to be Luna Lovegood. The girl has white hair (hopefully in every phone), sleepy indicates her dreamy look, and the book was all I could find for indicating the Quibbler.

6: 🍏🤑😎🔥

Okay so, this kinda confused everybody, especially the fire emoji. If you haven’t figured out why I put that emoji already, I’m not telling you as it is kinda embarrassing. But this is Draco Malfoy. This is the part where movie knowledge comes in as the green apple appeared in his hands in the third and the sixth movies.

7: 🐀🫂💔

Scabbers/Wormtail/Peter Pettigrew. The heart signifying betrayal.

8: 🧔🏼🌛👓

I can’t believe the number of people who thought this was Lupin, because seriously, it’s a half moon, and Lupin should be associated with the full moon. This is Albus Dumbledore guys! Half moon spectacles!

9: 🧑🏻‍🦰🧹🐉

This is Charlie Weasley, though some of you thought it’s Harry Potter. When I copy pasted the emoji on my laptop, it had red hair. On my Android though, it has black 🙂. So yeah, if you cannot tell already, this weird emoji struggle is very demotivating for making future quizzes 🙂.

10: 🪄🚫😤🐱

Wands Away *hem hem*.

Almost all of you couldn’t see these emojis 😭. So the first one is the wand emoji, then we have the emoji representing “no”, then the angry emoji, and then the cat emojis. So this is not McGonagall or Hermione, because the first two emojis don’t fit them. This is supposed to Argus Filch (no wand, coz he is a squib), or Umbridge (since I realized the emojis are just as valid on her as on Filch).

11: 👃🚫😈💀

This is Voldemort duh, many of you guessed it.

12: 🐺👨🏻

Most of you thought this was Sirius Black, but this is Remus Lupin, or Fenrir Greyback. The emoji is not of a dog, but of a wolf. Both the characters are werewolves.

13: 🐍💀

For this one, I’m accepting Nagini and Salazar Slytherin. It was supposed to be Nagini, but since loads of you also did Slytherin, I realized it does fit the emojis. I’m not accepting Voldemort though, I already did him before with more precise emojis.

14: 🐞👒👠📝

This is Rita Skeeter, or as I would like to put it, the annoying animagus.

15: 😵👁️‍🗨️🪵🦵🏼

Mad Eye Moody/Alastor Moody. The eye emoji, the emoji that could mean mad and the wooden leg.

Now for the scores (I have highlighted the winner)-

Ipsita- 9/15
Ayaana- 3/15
Aanya- 8.5/15
Panna- 13/15
Riya- 7/15
Naemi- 12/15
Shweta- 12/15
Rayna- 7/15
Roshni- 11/15
Inaya- 10/15
Silver Stone- 8/15
Akriti- 9/15
Jan- 7/15
Akshita- 1/15
Meg- 5.5/15
Rishika- 7/15
Sep- 9.5/15
Riddhi- 7.5/15
Khushi- 10/15
Selina- 3/10
Kripaa- 8/15

The urge to use 🙂 this emoji after Akshita’s name was very strong, I have to tell you.

The winner is- Pannagrasi @ The Tomboy’s Attic 😃✨🎉🎉🎉🎈🎈👏👏 (and no, it wasn’t a typo)

Yo go girl! Congratulaaaaaaations!!!!

Thou hath proved thine Potterheadness. And I’m very proud of thee 😀😇.

That was all I had for today. Thanks so much for participating pals 🤧, you made my day really. Stay tuned for more fun posts!

Book Review- Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertally 🏳️‍🌈

Happy Pride Month, Pals!!!! 😃🏳️‍🌈 (Ignore the fact I’m awfully late 😬)

So, in honor of The Pride Month, I decided to read some LGBTQ+ books. I’m going to be honest here, but I haven’t read many books with LGBTQ+ characters, and most of the ones that I have read have only side characters who are queer. But I would also like to make a point that I fully support the community. I even wanted to do a pride related tag, but couldn’t because stupid me hasn’t even read enough pride books and I would just have made a fool out of myself 😭.

The thing is I never read them because I never felt the appeal, I guess. Not to mention I haven’t even read that many romance novels in general, much less LGBTQ+. But this month, I felt the desire to read them become very strong and I just knew this would be the perfect book to start with. So here we are, let’s do this!

Synopsis:

This book features our main character- Simon, who is gay and is not yet out about it to anyone. The only person who knows is a guy from his school whom he’s never met, but knows only through mails. He goes by the name Blue, and he is also gay, and the two boys form a bond as they communicate with each other through mails, and get to know a lot about each other, to a point where Simon feels like he’s falling for him.

But another guy Martin, who has read Simon and Blue’s mails, is blackmailing Simon by subtly threatening to use the information against him if Simon doesn’t help him to bring him to the attention of his crush, a girl named Abby, who happens to be Simon’s friend. The story thus follows Simon having to deal how to come out to his family and friends, as well as save his and Blue’s secret emails from being leaked.

I hope I did a fine job at the synopsis.

The Plot:

Simple, but sweet.

If there is one word I have to use to describe this book, then that would be sweet because this book had a lot of “sweet” in it.

The reason I picked up this specific LGBTQ+ book instead of all others was because this is the most basic story plot out there, and not in a bad way. I really wanted my first such book to be simple yet impactful, and this sounded the perfect one to start with. The whole concept of “coming out” and dealing with being a part of this community for a high school student is rather a cliché plot but usually, I like starting with cliché when new to a specific genre. And yup, it totally worked for me.

The writing style was also very easy to follow. It was pretty simple and suited the vibe of the book.

The Characters:

The characters were amazingly done. For such a short book, I really appreciated how each character had an important role to play, and even the minor ones were written pretty well.

My favourite one would definitely be Leah, for some reason the whole way things ended up for her didn’t please me at all, and that just makes me look really forward to Leah on the Offbeat, because I think she would make a really cool protagonist.

I really liked Abby and rest of the others too, but they were kinda forgettable? But they weren’t bad in any way, I loved reading about them. But I didn’t love them necessarily. I also don’t really have that many strong feelings for Simon and Blue, I liked how things ended for them, but it felt kinda too perfect for some reason. The characters deserved it for sure, but I am really not in the mood for books with happy endings anymore, that’s the major reason I’m reading so many historical fiction and scifis lately.

Overall, the characters were pretty good. I didn’t love them necessarily but loved the way they were written.

What I didn’t like:

So, I don’t really know why despite that I just praised this book, it felt very forgettable for me. It could be because of the fact that it was just so simple, which is a good thing, it made the story easy to follow through, but looking back on it, it was just an okay kind of book. Not to mention, I kept feeling that Simon and Blue were being way too formal in their emails for two people who feel like they are falling in love. Maybe it’s just that my definition of informal is different than theirs, but uh…it felt a little bit weird.

As I mentioned before, the characters were all pretty forgettable for me. This was in no way a bad book, but I guess it is the one that is just good. It is not great or new or memorable or anything.

Overall-

I would recommend it if you need a break from heavy novels, or if you are looking for a fun romance. To me, it was kind of a disappointment, but since it wasn’t that bad, I would say it’s worth a shot if you’re interested.

3/5 stars

That was all for the review. And ugh, I hope it wasn’t too boring. I am really bad at writing reviews. I still hope you enjoyed it. Let me know if you’ve read this book and what you thought of it, down in the comments. Once again, Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈!!

Mid Year Book Freakout Tag 2021 (Is half the year gone already 😶?)

No way, absolutely no freaking way do I accept to believe that half the year is gone and all I did was sit back and procrastinate.

Hey Pals!! No but seriously, I literally freaked out when I realized half the year is gone 😱. Like did anybody even notice!? Well I so didn’t until various bloggers’ Mid Year tags started popping up on my Reader and I was “shook”. But anyways, today I am doing one my favourite book tags, and that is The Mid Year Book Freakout Tag.

Click here to check out the tag I did in 2020.

For those unaware, this tag is basically done around June and July when the half the year has passed, and it is just a fun analysis of how your reading year has been so far.

Sounds fun, eh? 😁 Let’s do this!!

So I haven’t read that many books so far 😭. I’ve only managed to finish 29 books (excluding the one I DNFed and the ones I am currently reading) 😭, which is killing me coz I think that’s too less 😭. Last year I had read 55 books by mid-July 😭 so this is a huge downfall 😭. But you probably don’t wanna see me rant here 😭 (bad friends) 😭, so I’ll just get on with the tag 😭:

1: Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2021 😭

Okay, I’m stopping with the crying emojis now~

For this one, I’ll be taking The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (yes, it wasn’t even hard to pick just one book, that’s how less books I’ve read so far 🤧). This book is just plain beautiful. That’s the only way to describe it. It’s a heart-wrenching tale and by the end, even though I didn’t cry throughout the entirety of the book, I felt my eyes wet a little because that ending was just…😭 (this is me forgetting I promised not to use this emoji). So yeah, this book is definitely my favorite one far this year so far.

2: Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2021

Once again 😭, haven’t read enough sequels, but A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir was a fantastic sequel. While I didn’t enjoy the second book in The Ember Quartet series, I really loved this one and I’m hoping to get to the final book soon.

3: New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To

There could be a lot of answers for this one, but I’m gonna go for Sunkissed by Kasie West.

4: Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year

*Ahem* none actually 😶.

5: Biggest Disappointment

This is another one I have quite a few answers for. But I’m going for A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’engle. I actually reread this book because I had loved it the first time I had read it, so I was hoping to love it again, but…it was awful! This was absolutely terrible. I marvel at the fact that I once gave this book 5 stars and now I’m giving it 1 star 😐. I’ll do a full review because my thoughts are too wild to fit into one small paragraph.

6: Biggest Surprise

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson. This is my first book by this author and I hadn’t expected to like it this much, I definitely expected to enjoy it but I didn’t expect that it would be so…sweet? And deep even.

7: New Favourite Author (Debut or New to You)

I’m going for Khaled Hosseini for this one, with Karen M. McManus as close second. Though I’ve only read The Kite Runner by Hosseini so far, I’m definitely planning to read more books by him because I just loved that book. As for Karen McManus, she has an amazing way of writing books that have that addicting vibe to them and you can’t put them down until you’re done with the story.

8: Newest Fictional Crush

Omg! So many, unlike last year when I had none. But the one who is totally owning my heart right now is Nate Macauley from One Of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus. That boy, aah I love him so much 😍.

9: A Book That Made You Cry

None actually, but I almost cried at ending of The Kite Runner and I spent the whole day bawling over All The Light We Cannot See too, but the tears didn’t come. So yeah, almost cried.

10: A Book That Made You Happy

None 🙂.

11: What Books do You Beed to Read by the End of the Year

You really wanna know? Sure, I’ll give you a little glimpse of my TBR 🙂

As if I’ll be able to finish these by the end of the year. It’ll be a miracle if I am able to finish them before Ragnarok 🙂.

For real though, I’ve had this list made since the last 3 years or something and I’ve barely been able to remove 4-5 series from this list 😪.

So anyways, I’m hoping to read A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir by the end of this year. And also reread at least 3 Harry Potter books.

Considering we don’t usually tag anybody for this tag, feel free to do it of you are interested. I had so much fun doing this 😀. Let me know how many books you read this year so far, or maybe don’t, because if it is more than mine, I’ll just keep crying even more 😭. I’m just kidding by the way, do lemme know down in the comments 😂.

I hope you enjoyed seeing me bawl reading the post 😃.

The Evermore Book Tag

Hey Pals!! Today, in honor of the latest album released by Taylor Swift, I am doing The Evermore Book Tag (I just realized the album isn’t latest anymore, but when I wrote this post, it was 😂). I was tagged for this by Ahaana @ Windows to Worlds. She also happens to be the creator of the tag, so thanks to her for coming up with such a fun tag as well as for tagging me. And guys, she even started her own Booktube Channel!!! Do visit her site and channel, it’s really nice.

The Rules:

  • Link back to the original creator’s post: Ahaana’s at Windows to Worlds
  • Tag at least 5 people
  • Thank the person who tagged you and link back to their post!!

willow: a book with a character you can’t help but fall in love with

The Magnus Chase trilogy by Rick Riordan. I love every character in this book (well, like every character except the ones who are nasty gods or evil fathers). I specifically love Magnus. He’s just got a genuine sense of humor that cracks me up everytime.

Ps- I don’t know why, but…..(please don’t kill me) I hate this song 🤐

champagne problems: a book with a broken relationship

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. When I finished this book, it kinda inhabited a major portion of my brain. Cath and Wren are two twins, and Wren decides to do her own thing when they go to college, which includes leaving her sister behind to deal with everything on her own.  So yeah, it does have a broken relationship.

gold rush: a book you love with all your heart

I’ll never stop saying just how much I luuurv Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. I have already read this book four freaking times, and you are telling me you still haven’t given it a shot!? Please read this book, it is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!

Pro tip: listen to the audiobook narrated by the author himself.

’tis the damn season: a book in which the character reconnects with their family/hometown

I honestly have no idea

tolerate it: a book with a suffering relationship

Gotta go with Fangirl again, can’t think of anything else.

no body, no crime: a book about murder

Oh man, I love this song! Brings all the right chillzz.

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. I remember reading this book with my sister and dnfing it right when things were about to start, lol 😛. I should pick it up soon or else the book blogging community might come at me with 10 foot long swords in their hands.

happiness: a book that’s an old favorite, but you just can’t relate to anymore

The Doldrums and the Helmsley Curse by Nicholas Gannon. I read this book two years ago and as soon as I finished it, I declared it to be one of my all time favorites because that was the amount of fun I had reading it. But looking back on it, it was a pretty forgettable read and even though I loved it then, I can’t say I love it anymore, it’s still a pretty great book and one I recommend even now, but I am over my love for it now.

dorothea: a book featuring an old (or strong) friendships

This friendship is goals

coney island: a book that made you cry // completely destroyed you

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling. Well, a character died in this book, and the way the death affected Harry was just intolerable and so heartbreaking, how could I have possibly stopped my eyes from leaking!?

ivy: a book that was an unexpected favorite

A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket. I still have a lot of issues with this series but the first book was really really good. Not to mention, the narration by Tim Curry brought life to these characters.

cowboy like me: a book about thieves, or criminals

Yeah well apparently, I can only think of Aladdin right now, and I don’t know a book I’ve read that has thieves in it. Ah wait, I just remembered.. how about… The Book Thief…😃?

I know I’m very smart *pats herself on the back, smiling evilly*.

long story short: a book that made up your childhood

Enid Blyton’s book series’- The Famous Five and The Secret Seven sparked my love for reading and I still love them a lot. Her characters are always so fun.

marjorie: a book with a moving message

Heidi by Johanna Spyri. This is another one of my favorite books though I think I have read the abridged version of it, but who cares? I love the characters and the setting. It takes place in the Swiss Alps and one of the major themes of this book, as I find it, is the healing powers and the beauty of nature. Just how big an impact nature can have on a person is very well portrayed through this novel.

closure: a series in which you NEED to read the next book

I really love The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken but I haven’t read the second book yet, something I feel ashamed of, but something I was never quite in the mood of. Hopefully, I’ll pick it up soon.

evermore: the perfect conclusion to an extremely long (but worth it) series

I haven’t read many “long” series, and the one that I have read had an awful conclusion so…

I Tag: Being the very generous person that I am 😇, I tag Anyone and Everyone who wants to this. If you are a book lover or a Swiftie, do give this tag a shot 😀.
