The Last Book I…Book Tag

Hey Pals!! Today, I’m doing an awesome book tag- The Last Book I…Book Tag! I came across this tag at Leslie’ blog- Books Are The New Black, she kind of tagged me for it? Not exactly, but well πŸ˜‚. I found it super fun and so I decided to give it a shot! Let’s get started!

1: The last book I bought

The last book I bought was You’ll Be The Death Of Me by Karen M. McManus. I’ve recently ordered two other books but they haven’t arrived yet sadly. As for this book, I didn’t really enjoy it very much unfortunately…

2: The last book I borrowed

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I borrowed it from a friend of mine. We exchanged books for the holidays and I got this in exchange for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. However, both of us haven’t read the books we borrowed yet. I did try reading Pride and Prejudice but I’m not much of a classic fan so I put it down, might pick it up some other time.

3: The last book I was gifted

I was gifted On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous on my birthday by my online buddy- Ashmita @ the fictional journal, such a thoughtful gift 😍! I finished this book too and I thoroughly enjoyed it, it wasn’t the best but it was really memorable, and I’m so glad I got to read it.

4: The last book I gave to someone else

I gave The Cousins by Karen M. McManus to one of my friends this week. Apparently she’s not enjoying it and has decided to DNF it. I mean I wasn’t that big a fan of it either but it wasn’t that bad. So it sucks that she’s DNFing it not gonna lie but it’s fine, I’ll deal with it πŸ˜‚.

*secretly cries in the corner*

5: The last book I started

City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare. Okay, before anything else, can I just say that this cover is so sexy gorgeous?

I started the audiobook for this. It’s going fine, not mind-blowing yet. But there’s hope. It’s good to be back in the world of Shadowhunters!

6: The last book I finished

Um, the last book I started was City of Lost Souls and the last one I finished is quite predictably its prequel- City of Fallen Angels.

7: The last book I rated 5 stars

I reread Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix recently and gave it 5 stars! 🀩

8: The last book I DNF’d

The last book I DNFed was Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren. I was enjoying it but then I was kinda bored and just wanted the mystery element to be resolved but I figured there’s still quite a bit of time for that to happen. So I quit reading it.

9: The last book I listened to

The same- City of Lost Souls. Thankfully it doesn’t have any male narrator 🀩. I’m so glad because I don’t like audiobooks narrated by male narrators, I have so many issues with them that I can write a whole blog on it πŸ™‚.

I tag: Anyone and everyone who enjoyed this tag and wants to give it a shot! Go for it and notify me if you do a similar post!

That’s all for today! I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what book you’re currently reading, down in the comments! πŸ˜€

    1. Thanks a lot!
And ohh, that book is a historical fiction written in the form of a letter that a boy in his twenties dedicates to his mother, who cannot read. It tells about his life struggles and stuff. It’s really interesting! The writing is very poetic though.
      Pleasure! You too! ❣️

  1. You will not believe it but, it’s such a coincidence, I gifted on earth we’re briefly gorgeous to my friend and gave my other friend Cousins to read! Great post btw! I’ll do this tag too! 😊❀️

  2. I would have been extremely offended of you hadn’t given Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix five stars, so thankfully you did and all is well! πŸ₯°πŸ˜‡

It’s really funny what you said about male audiobook narrators, though – because I have the exact opposite problem πŸ˜‚ Like, ugh, female narrators usually annoy me to no end, and even if the protagonist is a girl, I usually prefer a male voice telling me the story… Entirely illogical, I know πŸ™ˆ But I can’t help it! (And feel so secretly sexist now, so thanks for outing me, Neigh-hal! πŸ˜…πŸ˜ˆ)

I’m glad to hear you’ve succumbed to the Shadowhunter addiction, though! Welcome to the dark side! 😁

    1. Obviously, even I would’ve been offended with myself if I didn’t give Harry Potter five stars πŸ˜‚.

Oh, that’s so weird! I mean, I find male narrators to have this awfully deep voice that doesn’t make sense when you’re listening at >2 speed. Plus they just can’t do voice of female characters!! But to each their own lol.

Thanks for the warm welcome, Neigh-mi πŸ’€.

  3. Yay!! I’m so glad you did this one. It’s so fun. Oh no, I don’t blame you. I would feel kinda bad that my friend DNF’d a gifted book too!! I actually liked that one!

  6. On earth we’re briefly gorgeous is really amazing and I love it ❀️. Also, I agree with you on Love and other words. It took me really long to finish that whole thing, it legit bored the life out of me. I haven’t read city of fallen angels, should I read it ???
It would be so fun if this tag was about songs too…
Lovely post, Nehal. Really enjoyed it.

    1. Ooh, good to know you liked it!
And how was the ending of love and other words? Was the mystery thing worth the wait or not? Coz I’m still kinda curious 🧐.
And as for Fallen Angels, you’ll only like it if you’re really invested in the characters, and don’t mind them having personal conflicts and relationship troubles. The plot isn’t much in that one.
Oooh yeah, why don’t you make one about songs πŸ˜‚?
      Thanks so much, Prashansa!

      1. The ending was not too good and not too bad. For me, it wasn’t worth the wait because I got so bored, that in the end I didn’t even want to know the whole mystery thing. But it was a good surprise as I hadn’t guessed it.
Ooo, thanks for letting me know.
Yeah I might do that if it’s not already there πŸ˜‚
        You’re welcome ❀️
