5 Popular Hilarious YouTube Channels You Should Check Out

Hey Pals!! Today, I am here to tell you about 5 of my favourite YouTube Channels that you shouldn’t miss. I am here to recommend you some amazing channels that you’ll instantly fall in love with. Let’s go!!

1: Make Joke Of:

I still can’t get over the fact that these people have heads so round it seems as if they’re made from a compass 🧐.

If you are an Indian, this is the perfect haven to go to get those full-minute long stomach aches from laughing way too hard. There is not even much abusive language like in many other channels. If you haven’t ever watched a single video of MJO, I’ll say three things: a) I kinda find it hard to believe, b) these videos are just fab, and c) What are you even doing, go watch some of their videos now!

2: Charles The French

Before you ask, I don’t know if he’s French or not but you absolutely need to respeccct him. rEsPeCKt!! Anybody got the reference?

The thing with Charles is that the moment you watch one of his videos, you’ll want to watch another one, and then you’ll watch that one and then you’ll watch another one, and another and BOOM!! You’re addicted! He has super short humorous videos that’ll make you keep coming back to his channel. From telling us about the different types of students during an exam to what happens on a breakup anniversary, he misses out nothing. And you should definitely give him a try.

3: Lilly Singh

Hi, I am Manjeet Singh, Chandigarh, Sector 17. And you, you are “bloody joosless.” This is what you’ll probably hear in like every one of her videos, heh.

Okay, do I even need to tell you about her!? The girl’s got her own show, you obviously know her!

This person is amazing. Now, I can’t promise that you’ll like all of her videos, but what I can say is that she’s got that interesting voice that when once says something, you just have to listen because it’ll keep you hooked. Honestly, her parents’ videos are hilarious and that I can promise will surely give you a good laugh. Here’s one of my favs-

4: Daniel LaBelle

Just to get a glimpse of how awesome his videos are, check out this one-

Ooh Daniel’s videos are always so unrealistic yet so relatable at the same time. The first video I ever watched by him made me laugh sooo hard and I kept watching his videos and forgot I had a class…aah, that was a good day *starts reminiscing*. Ooh I was also sick that day so not that good of a day, how did I forget 🙄?

5: Triggered Insaan

Does anybody remember the kanauledgey joke? 😂

So this is another one for my Indian friends only. Nischay makes hilarious react videos, from roasting Indian ads to roasting people who roast other stuff, he always has something or the other to react to, and even other stuff that is funny enough to lighten your mood on a bad day. If you haven’t watched his videos yet, check out the one where he reacts to some really weird English pronunciation errors people make online.

That’s it for today! I hope you had fun reading this! What’s one of your favourite YouTube channel? Lemme know in the comments 😀.

Six Word Story #15

Six word stories can be a life-saver when you just don’t know what to post, hehe. Here’s one that I just came up with:

When will COVID leave for good?!

I guess that’s the one question bothering all of us. *sighs dramatically*

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed it! My brain is out of ideas regarding blogs and I got a fever again so if you see less posts from me, know that this is the reason 😢.

Don’t forget to leave your six word story replies down in the comments 😀.

My Top Ten Best Reads of 2021

My brain is seriously messed up. I typed the 2021 as 2032…I mean, typos can only go so far 🙄.

Hey Pals!! Today, I bring to you my list of favourite books from 2021!!

You need to appreciate me making this list because it was so hard to narrow it down to just 10 😭. Not to mention that I had to contact so many people asking them if The Silent Patient was better or One Of Us Is Lying, just because I could only keep one of the two in the list. In the end, I got so mad I wanted to not include either of them but that’s just a tragic little story that you can ignore 🙂. Now without further ado, let’s get started!!

Honourable mentions:

Since you’ve been gone by Morgan Matson

This almost made it to the list until I realized if I put it on the list, I’ll have to remove One Of Us…and I couldn’t do that to my Nate 🤧. This book was so good though! It focused not only on romance and friendship but also on self-improvement and figuring out your way in life alone. It was beautiful, sad, and sweet at the same time. I loved it so much!!

Meet Me At Midnight by Jessica Pennington

This is an enemies-to-lovers romance novel. It was so cute!! These characters were awesome, and I loved the execution of the story so much. Another thing I liked was how hopeful that ending was, instead of being very happy, it was just sweet and hopeful, which is something I always adore in books. I feel so bad for not including these in my favorites list. 😕

And now, moving on to my favourites list, I have (from worst to best)-

10: Cinder by Marissa Meyer

This managed to barely squeeze its way into this list considering I finished it in the last few days of December.

This book surprised me! I did not expect to love it and I was very hesitant to pick it up but it had been on my TBR for a very long time and I just thought- let’s do this now! And it was great! It was an awesome experience! I need to warn you though that this book is not for everyone because it is not anything new and only uses old tropes in a more refreshing manner. Luckily, this book was perfect for me 😁. I felt myself instantly liking and growing attached to the characters. I loved the plot!! I loved that it was so much more than just a fairytale retelling, and had dark elements to it too, a whole different world! The ending left me a bit hesitant to pick up the second book but I’m can’t wait to finish this series!

9: Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

This book was beautiful! That’s an easy word to describe it. This is World War 2 historical fiction, and all things considered, that’s one of my comfort things to read about (what does that say about me 🙂?). It depicts one of the greatest tragedies in maritime history and is written from four viewpoints. The author did not try to overdo the details of the devastation that war can have on people. She left a bit of that for us readers to imagine and feel on our own. This book gave me this calm sort of feeling and at the same time, I just couldn’t stop anxiously turning the pages! It’s both sad and hopeful, and a lovely novel that’s worth a shot.

8: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

I read this book because I wanted to read some really steamy romance. Do you get what I am trying to imply here? I hope so. Think of me what you will 🙂. This book did not disappoint. The “steamy” scenes I’m talking about were way too good! It’s like they came right out of a Dramione fanfiction and I was all for it 🤩. There was so much tension, angst, and heat, oof 🔥. It’s not just about these scenes, the story was also very good! The writing style wasn’t boring or too descriptive as I would’ve expected, it was just enough to make me visualize what was happening and feel chills while reading it at times. To be honest, the chapters from Mile’s POV were kinda boring but they still added up to make sense later in the story so I guess I can ignore that. I highly recommend this book if you like contemporary romance.

7: If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund Broka

This one is not surprising to me! The moment I read the synopsis of the book I knew I was gonna love this book, and I wasn’t wrong! I devoured this book because of the main character who was so awesome! She literally didn’t care what most people thought of her. She, as well as the love interest, had their conflicts that got me so invested in their stories. The writing style was fun and easy to read. The ending was a bit weird because the main character had all these life-changing revelations in the last few chapters, which was kinda unrealistic, but apart from that, I had a good time reading this book.

6: One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

Let’s not keep Nate waiting for too long, now shall we? 😁

This book! You know my opinions about it, you’ve probably read my review. If not, check it out here. Well, I obviously loved reading it. I suppose that the best thing was the writing style because it kept me wanting to finish it so badly that I just kept on reading. It has an engrossing plot, and a murder mystery with a twist (of course there’s a twist at the end, it’s Karen M. McManus!) But the love interest- Nate Freaking Macauley, is probably the biggest factor that makes me love this book so much because aah, he’s so perfect!! 😍

5: The Silent Patient by Alex Michaeladis

Leave it to me to add every popular book in this list.

I hadn’t even heard of this thriller novel until my friend gifted this to me on my birthday! And so I had zero expectations going in and wow, was I surprised! This book hooked me and I couldn’t put it down! Those sessions between Theo and Alicia were so scary. There was a way this author had of writing stuff that made me feel chills at times because it was so creepy. And that plot twist- the first time I read it I was so freaking shocked that I almost lost it. But over time, I realized the twist was a little lazy way for the author to end things because there wasn’t enough foreshadowing about it…but I still loved reading the book so I can overlook some stuff. I do only recommend this to people who are new to thrillers because there’s a chance that people who read thrillers all the time won’t like this one. But since I was new loved it!

4: The Six Of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo

This one I’m still a little skeptical about, but I think it deserves to be here. I mean, I don’t want its fans to kill me so…🙂

I’ve read the first book twice, mainly because the politics flew over the top of my head the first time I read it. So I read the Grisha Trilogy and then read Six Of Crows again, and gosh, it was an amazing experience! The book made so much more sense and I ended up enjoying each perspective, while the first time I was kinda bored by all perspectives for some reason. The book’s ending was incredible too! And then the second book- that one was a solid sequel! The author delved so much deeper into the relationships between the characters. That fight scene between Kaz and Jesper was the best, I swear! 😂🤩

And now, we have the top three!

3: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Whose surprised? Me!

Yes, that’s right! I’m surprised this book made it to this list because the moment I finished it, I was a bit disappointed because I did not love it to the moon and back like I had hoped I would. But looking back, I realize this was a very gripping story and had one of my favourite quotes of all time- If you want something, do whatever it takes to get it. This quote just kind of ended up being a little close to my heart, it’s very basic but it still motivates me, you know? And the story in itself was very addicting and had an impact on me even though I did not realize it at that time.

2: All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

See, another World War 2 novel on this list! I’m telling you, such books are my comfort and joy (something is wrong with me, I wonder if COVID messed my brain 🤨).

Wernerrrr!! 😍

I’ll never stop raving about him! He has such an interesting and relatable character arc. When you read about him, you’ll be like- boy, I get you! This book does not have that much of a plot. It follows two storylines gradually ending up meeting. So, I think you’ll enjoy this book if you love some good long books with devastating endings and amazing writing! Like boy, this writing style hits different. It is so comfortable to read once you get used to it. It made me feel like every sentence, every word was significant!

1: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

This has to be my number 1 favourite book of 2021, and one I’ll keep recommending till my throat dries out, because this book has it all! Literally! Action? Yes. Friendship? Yes. Family? Hell yeah. Complex main character with character development? You got it, babe! Romance? I guess, yeah…to some extent. Most people cried reading this book. I didn’t. But this book touched me in a way that no book has. I do only recommend this to people who are 14+. But you need to read this at least once in your life! Go check out the synopsis, but it is kinda mysterious so it won’t do anything except get you intrigued 😈.

Done!! 🤩

Boy, this post was so draining 🥴. I need sleep or I’ll die and my ghost will come and cause a ruckus. I’m gonna head away before that happens and do unproductive stuff now because being productive is so exhausting 👀.

That was it for me! Now, tell me about you! Have you read any of these books? What is your favourite book of 2021? Let me know in the comments 😀.

The Totally Should’ve Book Tag

Hey Pals! Today I am doing The Totally Should’ve Book Tag. Thank you so much Claudia @ Claudiareadsbooks for tagging me. I am really grateful to you. Claudia is a massive bookworm that has some of the best bookish content I have come across, from fun tags to raving about her favorite books, she misses nothing. This tag was created by a Booktuber- Emma @ emmmabooks. Now, without much ado, let’s begin the tag!!

1: Totally should’ve gotten a sequel

The Doldrums and the Helmsley Curse by Nicholas Gannon. This is the sequel to The Doldrums and I love this book a lot. It was hilarious, fun and mysterious. I love these characters so much, they are all just so full of life and make a great team. I just wish I could read another story about these characters!

2: Totally should’ve had a spin-off series

The Uglies series!! I just want more of this because that’s like my favorite series and just…

3: An author who totally should write more books

Alex Light– the author of The Upside of Falling.

This book was pretty good. Definitely not the most amazing thing out there but it was written really well. I think this author should try her hand at more contemporary books because I think they’ll turn out good.

4: A character who totally should’ve ended up with someone else

Katniss from The Hunger Games series. I felt (spoiler alert) like she neither loved Peeta nor Gale and she easily let go of Gale which I didn’t like at all. Come on, that guy was her friend, it’s like she didn’t miss him at all! But at the same time, I think a girl like her is so much better off without either of them, lol.

5: Totally should’ve ended differently

The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis. This series went downhill from the 6th book and the last book could’ve been so much better if not for the ending. The last two or three chapters were so disappointing. I felt like the author just couldn’t decide how to end the series, so he wrote whatever he thought would look fine. And don’t even get me started on the very last paragraph 🤯! It was so bad that it was obvious that the author was out of ideas (Sorry that was a rant, I didn’t mean to harm anyone’s feelings).

6: Totally should’ve had a movie franchise

The Magnus Chase trilogy by Uncle Rick. These books would make an amazing movie franchise! I would love to see these characters brought to life, it would be dang good 🤩.

7: Totally should’ve had a TV show

The Uglies Trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. I love it because of the amazing plot and the characters and the twists, just everything about it is awesome. The fact that these characters get an operatiom to look “pretty” forever is such an interesting concept and would make a fabulous TV show!

8: Totally should’ve had only one point-of-view

Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney. This book had three perspectives, and I found Adam’s perspective to be useless. I mean, technically all three were needed in the story, but the guy who was narrating Adam’s parts was doing an incredible job of being thoroughly horrible at it. This book in itself pretty much sucked (long story), and I didn’t enjoy Adam’s narration all that much, it would have been better if I didn’t have to read it.

9: Totally should’ve had a cover change

The Soulful Seeker by Poonam Chadha Joseph. This is a poetry book and I have only read a few poems in it. It’s actually my sister’s book so on one boring day, I picked it up randomly. The few poems I read were utterly fantastic. The problem I have with the cover of this book is that the face of the woman just doesn’t work for me and I wish that it was something different. I mean come on, doesn’t it look weird?!

10: Totally should’ve kept the original covers

The Twilight Saga series by Stephanie Meyer. Honestly, what was wrong with those obscure, dark and mysterious covers? Why did they get movie-tie-in editions, which I don’t think suck but they are so cliche!

11: Totally should’ve stopped at book one

Would you mind if I give an unpopular opinion? The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins 😛. I just didn’t see the point in stretching the story, I felt like the second book was unnecessary and the third one had a barely-developed plot. The last two books could’ve been combined to form a short little ending and fitted into the first one itself 😂.

I Tag:

  1. Srishti @ The Srishti Blog
  2. Millay @ Millay’s Musings
  3. Cherelle @ A Bolt Out Of The Book
  4. Kira @ Kira Jeanette
  5. Ashmita @ the fictional journal
  6. Suhani @ Random Reader’s Ramblings
  7. Blue @ Territory Of The Blueberry
  8. You!! If you are interested in doing this tag, go for it and don’t forget to notify me. Consider yourself tagged!

That’s it! I hope you enjoyed it! Now I want you to let me know a book series that you think should have totally had a spin-off series, down in the comments 😀.

The Indian Sweets’ Lover Award and The Cookie Lover Award!

Happy Makar Sankranti, guys!!

Hey Pals!! So, today is a popular Indian festival called Makar Sankranti…for more details just Google it, I’m kinda ahem, somewhere between lazy and tired 😶. On occasion of this festival, I’ll be doing The Indian Sweets’ Lover Award!!

I’m probably one of those people who will get diabetes when they grow up because I eat way too many sweets for my own good…but you can’t blame me, sweets are the best 😭🖐️. And Indian sweets are unbeatable!

I was nominated by Prashansa @ Reader’s Alcove (who is also the creator of the award), Rabhya @ Rab’s Bookish Planet, Srishti @ The Srishti Blog, and Dhriti @ The Tomboy Diaries. Thanks to all of them! The first three have awesome book blogs with great tags and reviews, and the fourth one is a younger blogger who writes some really cool poems! I was also tagged by Anjali @ Studio AD, a blog I recently discovered. Go check out these blogs, guys! Now, let’s get started!!

The Indian Sweets’ Lover Award

The Rules:

  • Thank the person/fellow Indian sweets’ lover who nominated you! (or whose blog you found out about this award through)
  • Answer the 5 Indian sweets-related questions and add one of your own!
  • Share some pictures of your all time favorite Indian sweets.
  • Nominate 5 or more bloggers who love Indian sweets and leave an open nomination for every Indian sweets’ lover around the world.

1: What are your top three favorite Indian sweets?

How dare you ask just three?! This is gonna be so hard, uff. Well, okay so I have Rasmalai, Malaipuri, Ghewar and malai chaap (yeah, these are four, sorry cannot choose 3). Oh and also, there is this really popular watermelon-shaped barfi that is often eaten at weddings- I love that too!

2: What’s an Indian sweet you haven’t tried yet but really want to?

Bold of you to assume that I have not tried a sweet. Just kidding, lemme think…hmm, I do not think that I have ever had Shahi Tukda before, so I would love to give it a shot.

3: Name one sweet which is traditionally made in your city/state (This was also Srishti’s question)

Oof, that would mean I would have to reveal my city. Without being explicit, I am just gonna say that the petha of my city is famous worldwide.

4: Which kind of ladoo is your favorite?

I think my favourite are besan ladoo, they always make me drool!

5: Have you ever tried a chocolate flavored Indian sweet? If yes, name it.

Yes, chocolate petha! It is very good, you will not be disappointed!

6: Dhriti’s question- What kind of Indian sweet are you?

I took this quiz to find out and I got Kaju Katli apparently…which is the one sweet I actually find kinda boring, but okay.

7: Rabhya’s Question-  One sweet that you can eat for the rest of your life?

Can I though? I think rasmalai because it is neither too sweet nor does it lack sweetness. And I would be content eating it daily, hehe.

Here is my question- What is your least favorite Indian sweet?

And here are the pictures of some cool Indian sweets!

So this is the famous jalebi 😃
This is malaipuri 🤩
And this is the watermelon-shaped barfi I was talking about 🤤
And these are a combination of various sweets *dies of hunger*

I nominate:

No pressure on y’all, only do the award if you can and want to.

  1. Mokshba di @ Happy Panda
  2. Sam @ Diary of a Dreamer
  3. Khushi and Kunjal @ Duo Disseminators
  4. Siya @The Dramatic Drama
  5. Shivi @ Shivictionary
  6. You!! If you love Indian sweets and want to try out this awesome award, go for it ‘coz I tag You!

The Cookie Lover Award

I was tagged for this a long time ago by Siran @ Far from perfect. She writes fabulous poems, guys, you need to check out her blog! Also Simran, you didn’t specify any questions so I just answered the ones that you answered, lol. Now, let’s do this!!

Also, I can’t figure out who the creator is, so sorry about that.

The Rules:

  • Thank the person/fellow cookie lover who nominated you! (or whose blog you found out about this award through)
  • Answer the cookie-related questions and add one of your own!
  • Share some pictures of cookies you adore! (can be pics you’ve taken or ones from online, just be sure to give credit where credit is due.)
  • Nominate 5 or more bloggers who love cookies and leave an open nomination for every cookie lover around the world!

1: What are your top three favorite types of cookies?

Chocolate-chip cookies for sure, then there are these biscuits called Dark Fantasy which are way too good for anyone’s good. And my sister made some at home once, I do not know what they are called but they rocked!

Fig rolls! They look so yum!!

A Dark Fantasy biscuit, hehe.

I would be an oreo, because people really love them and they are used in almost all kinds of other desserts.

5: Why do you love cookies?

What sort of an absurdly ridiculous question is that 🙂? That is like asking a reader why they love reading or asking somebody who is gonna commit suicide why they love dying (which technically, they don’t, but that is beside the point). I love cookies bEcAuSe tHeY aRe sWeEt !!

6: Have you ever tried making cookies at home and how did they turn out?

Nope never. I do not like cooking…like at all!

My question: What is in the middle of cookies?

And here are is a picture of cookies!

So my mom made these once!

Once again, no pressure if you do not want to do this.

  1. Dhriti @ The Tomboy Diaries
  2. Naemi @ A Book Owl’s Corner
  3. Ashmita @ the fictional journal
  4. Sahi @ My World of Books
  5. Stara @ The Pool Of Thoughts
  6. You!! If you love cookies and want to try out this awesome award, go for it ‘coz I tag You!

That’s all! I hope you enjoyed reading it! Do you like Indian sweets? Let me know an Indian sweet that is your favorite, down in the comments! 😀

25 Harry Potter Facts About Me

Hey Pals!! Today, I am going to be sharing 25 Harry Potter-related facts about me. This is inspired by the 25 Bookish Facts About Me Tag. I think the original 25 Bookish Facts post was created by Rachel @ Confessions of a Book Geek, but I am not sure, so sorry about that. Since I do not have much else to say, let us just get started!

So here are: 25 Harry Potter Facts About Me (beware- major spoilers ahead)-

  • I first read Harry Potter when I was 9 or 10.
  • I am a Slytherdor.
  • My Quidditch position would be Chaser or Beater, because I just do not think I would be good at being any other player…but at the same time I would only play for fun because I suck at sports.
  • I have forced many of my friends to read the first book in this series and a few of them have…hehe.
  • I am an expert at Harry Potter trivia…like literally. Until two years ago, I used to spend all my waking hours taking thousands of trivial quizzes on various websites. I probably won’t remember all the details now, but I used to be a pro back then.
  • If someone walked upto me saying that I am a witch and have a place at Hogwarts, I would totally…not believe them. But I wish it could happen.
  • My favorite book is The Order of the Phoenix and fav movie is The Prisoner of Azkaban.
  • I would love to eat treacle art and chocolate cauldrons and anything sweet of the wizarding world.
  • My favorite ship is Dramione. Love them so so much! Oh and also, Umbridge and a Dementor!! Like please, that 😃 ship 😃 freaking 😃 rocks 😃.
jk
  • I really don’t like Harry and Ginny together and nor do I like Ron and Hermione together. I just don’t. They don’t fit, at least not for me.
  • I actually don’t mind Peeves being cut off from the movies. He was really annoying.
  • My favorite house is Slytherin.
  • I used to love Harry Potter more than anything. But my love for it has decreased a little bit over the years. I mean, I started rereading the series a few months ago and I left Goblet OF Fire halfway through. 😦
  • I made a few DIY Harry Potter bookmarks from Google and YouTube and I love them.
  • I am still waiting for my Hogwarts Letter to arrive and I’ll wait as long as it takes. It’s just taking a little too much time.
  • I have read lots of Harry Potter fanfictions on fanfiction.net but uh, I only read them for the romance. And believe me, fanfictions take the romance to another level.
  • I have a Harry Potter Calendar that my sister got when 2021 started…wow, I just realized that calendar is literally of no use anymore.
  • I also own a Harry Potter popsocket that I love with all my heart, and a Harry Potter notebook, Harry Potter playing cards, and 7 bookmarks that I got as a gift on my birthday (okay, I sound like a spoiled child but you should see the amount of merchandise some other Potterheads own). I think I own a few other things too but I can’t remember right now.
  • I have not heard the audiobooks for the series though. My sister has and I heard the narration here and there and found it pretty good.
  • There was a chapter in our Hindi book in 7th standard, which was taken from an excerpt from The Mirror of Erised chapter from The Philosopher’s Stone, and as you can very well imagine, I did boast my knowledge about it as much as possible in front of all my classmates 😎.
  • Remus Lupin is my favourite Marauder, teacher, and also like my Harry Potter favourite character in general.
  • I started watching The Reunion but have not completed it yet. Oop-
  • I have not read any other book set in the Wizarding World except of the original series and The Cursed Child.
  • I used to have the unpopular opinion that The Cursed Child was actually an awesome book (yes, I know you wanna kill me but wait). I did used to really like it and I still do not think that it was an utter monstrosity because it was…fun. I mean, it did have very gross moments in it and lots of plotholes, but apart from that, I enjoyed reading it. However, I realized the book was a fanfiction and that kind of changed a lot of my opinions.
  • And lastly, I am finishing writing this Harry Potter post while my teacher is blabbering about the various isomers of Pentyne in the background 🙂.

Click here to check out my other post: 25 Bookish Facts About Me

That’s all for me! I hope you had fun reading this post. Let me know a Harry Potter fact about you. Do you also have an unpopular opinion? I would love to know it in the comments 😀!

Also, if you want to do a similar post, go for it! Just mention that you got the idea from here, hehe. I would love to come across more Potterheads!

When You’re Scared, What Do You Feel?

When you’re scared, what do you feel?

Do you feel your teeth chatter involuntarily?
Or do you feel sweat stroking your forehead?

Do you feel alert and quick to react?
Or do you feel slow due to the heavy weight in your stomach?

Do you feel like you need the presence of someone?
Or do you feel like making solitude a companion?

Do you feel like you need to indulge in something that you love?
Or do you feel like nothing you do can make you feel better?

Do you feel like you momentarily stop breathing?
Or do you feel yourself registering your short, sharp breaths?

Do you feel yourself inclined to scream in terror?
Or do you feel too terrified to issue any sound?

Do you feel yourself tremble ceaselessly?
Or do you feel petrified, frozen, like you can’t even move a muscle?

When you’re scared, what do you feel?

~Nehal

This poem was my way of depicting how a person can feel two completely different emotions, at the same time, when they are scared. Though there are other ways to interpret it too. I hope you liked it. Let me know what you thought of it in the comments 😄.

Lost Innocence

An anxious crowd is gathered around the thickly covered body of a really familiar looking man. Nothing of his body is visible except his face which is devoid of emotion. He appears to be fast asleep. Beside him, hunching on the floor, is my mum, one of my aunts, and my Nani (my maternal grandma). The three of them are wailing and weeping, sobbing so hard they might never be able to stop. I am not allowed to go near them. All I know is that something isn’t right.

The people in the crowd may not have been there for all I know. It’s like all life exists in those three grief-stricken women. None of the onlookers are doing anything to calm their shaking bodies. I see brine glistening in many eyes. I cannot avert my gaze from the man in the midst of it all, lying there tightly bound, not moving. He looks really calm like he doesn’t care about the various people who are coming and gently stroking his face.

I walk away from them all, far back from it where my grandpa is sitting on a chair, looking just as sane as ever, just as calm. He takes me in his arms when I arrive.

“Who is that man, Baba?” I ask him.

He peers at me from behind his spectacles, and explains briefly, “He is your Nana Ji.”

“My Nana Ji?” I repeat. No wonder he looked so familiar.

“Yes,” he says. “Don’t you see?”

“Why is he lying like that, then. Why isn’t he moving?”

“He won’t move anymore,” Baba says.

“Why not?”

“His time in this world has ended. He will live with God now. He won’t live in this world anymore. He will live above,” he says, pointing up. “God has taken him.”

“What do you mean, Baba?”

“Everyone comes to live on this earth for a specific time. His time has ended, so he will not live here anymore.”

“But why isn’t he moving?”

“He can’t breathe. So, he can’t move.”

“You mean he is not breathing?” I say with wide eyes.

“He is dead, Vani. He will not breathe, not ever again.”

“You cannot breathe when you die?” I say, now no longer in his arms.

“Never,” he says.

“But how could he live without breathing!?”

“He cannot, that’s why he is dead. He has lived with us. Now, he will live with God.”

I don’t speak for a while so he turns his attention back to the crowd.

“Baba?” I say then.

“Hmm.”

“Why does he have to die?”

“He can’t live forever, none of us do. Everyone will die in the end. God will take all of us in the end.”

“Everyone?” I say, my breathing becoming rapid.

“Yes.” That’s all he says.

One of the people I loved the most in the whole wide world had just planted in me the seed of explanation of something that would grow swiftly and would haunt me for a really long time. I walk away, unable to get it all. My six-year-old brain failing to comprehend it all. I didn’t understand it. Not then.

Eight Years Later:

I break down in the back seat of the car. The stress of the day has been too much for me and I can’t take it anymore. I don’t even try to hide my tears so our driver sees me and exclaims, “Vani, why are you crying!?”

I can’t answer because what is there to say.

“Vani, why are you…tell me!” he says again, sounding astonished.

“You don’t know what it’s like,” I manage to say. “It’s such a stressful environment. The whole day has just been…” I falter.

“He’ll be alright,” he says, finally understanding. “You are such a wise girl, why should you cry?”

He calls my father then and tells me that he will meet me on the way. We stop at Synergy Hospital, I don’t go inside. My father appears then. He doesn’t look tensed, just a little preoccupied.

They both watch me, and my dad talks about stuff that I feel doesn’t matter anymore, like what did I do at my friend’s house, how was my day. There are more things to worry about. I speak less, it’s hard to speak openly when my insides are closing with refrain from showing my emotions. I finally say, but it comes out more like a croak, “Papa, will Baba be alright?”

“Yes, of course,” is his instant response. He goes on to explain just how better his condition has gotten, and just like that, I feel better talking to him, hearing him speak with that tone of his that could never suggest anything but the best. Yet when the car moves on and I am back in the company of my own thoughts, I can’t shake off the feeling that all won’t be alright.

I understand now, all of it, more than I ever want to. And, in a sense, I wish I didn’t.

Know Your Buddy Tag ft. Riddhi @ Whispering Stories

Hey Pals!! Today, I’m doing the Know Your Buddy Tag, with none other than our very own Riddhiiiiii!!

R- Hey everybody! I hope you guys enjoy this!

N- Indeed, indeed. So, I was tagged by Poorwa @ Poorwa’s blog, and Siya @ THE DRAMATIC DRAMA. Thanks a ton for tagging me! Do check out these blogs for some awesome content! Now, let’s get started!!

Rules:

  • Tag the original creators of this tag – Tallblondetales and Proxywords â€“ and tag the original posts from each of their blogs. If you do, you’ll be eligible for the roundup post and grand ‘Know Your Buddy’ tag winner! If not, you can still take part in the tag you just won’t be a contender for the overall winner.
  • Thank the bloggers who nominated you (and your buddy), share the badge and rules in your post.
  • Pick a blogger with whom you’d like to do this tag with, answer the questions together, and share each other’s answers on both the blogs.
  • Nominate 10 new Bloggers and keep spreading the love.
  • Notify the bloggers (tell them you nominated them) by commenting on one of their posts.

1: What is your favourite blog post of mine and why?

R- I love your poem Just Hold On, for reasons both you and I know.

N- Hm, I do know. And thanks, that means a lot 😁.

2: What would you rather be known for- your blog name or your name?

R- My name I think, but I am pretty sure if I become famous, it will be because of my blog.

N- Yeah, I kinda agree. I mean, you have five of them after all, and all are so great!

3: What is the weirdest comment you have gotten on your blog?

R- Someone literally asked me to congratulate them for their wedding.

N-

Why, congratulations, Riddhi!! I hope you don’t forget me once you get your happily ever after *sniff sniff* 🤧.

Oh wait- it’s not your wedding, it’s their wedding 🤨. Aah, I got confused…

4:  Do you think cereal is soup? Why or why not?

N- Who cares-

R- It’s not soup, because you add cereal to milk, and like just no. I mean you add breadcrumbs to soup too, but then in that way, milk would be soup, and milk is not soup.

N- All other stuff aside, the thing I’m worried about is why is cereal being a soup or not even an issue as long as you have enough of it to satisfy your hunger… 🧐

5: If you had a controller that had a power to rewind or fast-forward, which would you press for WordPress?

R- This is difficult! I mean, I want to rectify my past mistakes, but I want to see where I’ll be after maybe like 5 years of blogging too! Ah, I don’t know.

N- I would, for sure, rewind, I guess. I don’t know, I just think it was happier back then?

6: If you two were to be buddy characters in a movie, what characters would you be and why?

R- Hmm… I would say Nico and Hazel who aren’t totally buddies, but you know… siblings be buddies. I am withdrawn like Nico, and well, Nehal’s kind like Hazel.

N-

Wait, why am I like Hazel? Is it because are names kind of rhyme 🤔? I didn’t even like Hazel much…*runs away before Riordan fans could come and kill her*

7: What is the most boring part of doing blog posts for you? Or what part of posting a blog are you laziest about doing?

R- I enjoy pretty much everything- the thing I hate most is copy pasting stuff- like in blogger interviews I read the answers- I enjoy reading them, but copying and then pasting them to my blog is super boring. Blegh.

N- That’s why I say that if you gotta blog, blog like Riddhi. She pours her heart and soul into her work even if you might not know that. But yeah, copy pasting is boring, and copy pasting links is worse.

8: If you could transform into any animal , what would it be and why?

R- I would probably be a pet dog- because all they do is eat, sleep, play, repeat.

N- I can’t say I deny. But doggos have a lot of hardships too. Oh wait- you said pet dogs…

9: If your blog had a superpower/magical element, what would it be?

R- Hmm… So, if my blog had a superpower it would be that it could capture all the thoughts I have while reading a book. It would be so easy to write a review then!

N- Same!! 😭

10: What reminds you of me?

R- Audiobooks, because you coerced me to read them.

N- I thought you won’t like them but I’m so glad you did! 🤩

11: If you were given the power to exchange blogs for a day, what thing would you change or adapt first?

R- I think I would just schedule more posts, so that you are able to post more often. lol.

N- Okay, ouch 😂. But you’re not wrong because I do post only twice a week, and very rarely thrice, but it’s the only way I can stay consistent, lol.

12: Your blog is chosen to sponsor a charity. If funds were not an issue, which charity or issue would your blog choose to support?

R- Um, an issue I would choose would be the prejudice/hate against the LGBTQIA+ community. I feel like our generation has enough knowledge about the racism against black people, or mental health issues, because there were literal social media campaigns for it. People from our generation know a lot about these issues as well. But the LGBTQIA+ community, due to lack of representation, just doesn’t get enough support. I mean, I know a few people of my age who are homophobes, and that repulses me honestly. So, yeah, spreading awareness about the community is something I’d do.

N- We just got serious, haha.

13: What are the unwritten rules of your blog?

R- No hate and no plagiarism.

N- Aah, same!

14: If you had to swap niches, which niche would you change to?

R- Hmm, that’s difficult. I don’t really think there’s any other niche I would wanna change toa.

N- Yeah, this one suits you well.

15: What new username would you give to my Blog?

R- Hmmm…. I would prolly make it the Rambly Reader or something, I don’t know.

N- Uh…

That’s a horrible name, dude.

I tag:

  1. Luna @ Rainy Thoughts
  2. Hannah @ Hannah’s Library
  3. Nashita @ Books and Brownies
  4. Betty @ The box of Wonder!
  5. Georgia @ Lost in Neverland
  6. Sep @ Bookishly Yours
  7. Aashi @ Words on Fleek
  8. Shivi @ Shivictionary
  9. Dhriti @ The Tomboy Diaries
  10. You!! If you want to do this, make sure you do, I would love read your answers!

Click here to read Riddhi’s post where I share my answers to the above questions.

N- Aaand, we’re done! This was so fun, wasn’t it?

R- I agree, it was cool!

That’s all! I hope you enjoyed it! Let me know what you think about cereal being soup or not, down in the comments 😀.

Am I the only one whose NOT bothered about how fast 2021 slipped by? ðŸ¤“

Yo children, adults, humans, lizards and chameleons!!

‘Tis new year people 😎. Happy new year 😎. How was 2021, sucked didn’t it 😎? Well, instead of having an existential crisis about how I productively managed to waste 2021 😎, I’ve decided to just …

chill 😎

I am reaaaally not in the mood to do a wrap-up post right now. I opened my Reader, and there were literally so many freaking 2021 wrap up posts that my mind was blown off just staring at the titles, and I ended up not reading any of those. Talk about overwhelming 😳.

I realized there’s no point freaking out about what’s gonna happen now because as long as I don’t know, I can always hope things will be good. Plus, I’m with my cousins right now, and it’s been a really long time since I’ve felt this happy.

Okay, maybe I sound…bad? But I’m just trying to say that I know 2021 sucked. I know it. But I’ve decided to have a little hope that the next year can be better.

So, that’s all I wanted to say…wishing you a very happy new year, guys! I hope 2022 is way better than 2021. Have a great time ahead. And just try not to feel too bad about new year coming. Let go of 2021. And hope that next year is better.
