5 Blogging Pet Peeves Of Mine

Number 1: Not responding to comments 🀩.

Hey Pals 🀩!! Today, I’m bringing you a post in which I share some of my blogging pet peeves! 🀩

I don’t know why I used that star-eyes emoji, it’s not like I’m overjoyed at the concept of some unpopular opinions that will probably be frowned upon and make me come across as condescending, now am I? πŸ™‚ So anyways, enough stupidity, let’s get started!!

Note: What follows are personal opinions. I don’t mean to insult or hurt anyone’s feelings.

1: Overuse of words like- honestly, personally, seriously, definitely, absolutely, literally etc.

I literally have no idea how I can explain this point enough. This is one that definitely annoys me the most, and personally, I think we would honestly be so much better off without it absolutely ruining our lives.

Ahem, ahem, now wasn’t that a very pleasant sentence to read? πŸ™‚βœ¨

I understand when people use these words to emphasize, but sometimes I see them being used more than twice in a sentence! I’m so annoyed! Like I can’t understand why people have to emphasize these words, I mean, we get you’re being as honest as a…um, as a…uh…as an…apple (?), you don’t have to shove it in my face 😡. Not just book bloggers, I see this in so many of my favorite booktubers as well. It’s not even that it’s a bad thing, it’s just very overwhelming. I seriously don’t know how I can make people understand this well enough.

2: People going on unannounced hiatus’

I am pretty sure this shouldn’t bother me as much as it does, but I have this weird theory in my mind that when people go on unannounced hiatus, they just want attention πŸ˜’, which I know is not true. If I, all of a sudden, realize a said someone has not been posting much since a long time, I usually go and comment on their post to see if they’re alright. But you know, you can save me the trouble by just posting a blog about how you have exams going on and hence won’t be much active, just how hard is that?! It clears up all the confusion and worry, and most importantly, iT gIvEs Us hOpE tHaT tHeRe iS a poSsIBiLiTy tHaT yOu mIgHt dRaG yOuR ButT bAcK iNtO bLoGgInG aT sOME pOiNt In tHe fUtUrE !!

3: The WordPress Reader not showing enough blogs

This is the worst! I follow over a hundred bloggers and my WordPress Reader doesn’t even show me like half of their latest blogs! I mean, why!? Why would you do that, what did I ever do to you 😭?! It’s so annoying when I realize I have missed so many bloggers’ posts just because my stupid Reader didn’t do the courtesy of showing them! You had one job, you abominable betrayer! One freaking job!!

So if anyone was wondering why I don’t read their blogs, here’s thine reason.

4: People not using enough dividers in their post

By dividers, I do not necessarily mean separators. I mean headings, bold text, or any other similar thing that distinguishes a part of your post from the rest. You probably do not know this about me, but I have a phobia- longpostophobia πŸ˜”. I cannot read a long post without being hopelessly bored. I have lot of trouble reading a long post written in that tiny font that WordPress offers. I really appreciate it when people divide such a post into various sections so that I know which one is interesting enough for me to read. And not only does that help the reader, but it also makes the post look so much better in itself!

5: Using too many strikethroughs in a post

You need to calm down, girl~

I think strikethroughs are awesome! They are so good when you want to emphasize a point in that weird way that makes it seem like a secret. But then there are people who use it too much, like more than 10 strikethroughs in a single post. It takes away the purpose of a strikethrough. And it is frustrating! Some people use it at places where it is totally unnecessary. I mean, are you really just using it for the sake of using it? Because I sure as hell am not reading your post just for the sake of reading it, so you better appreciate that and sToP!

I literally hope you enjoyed this post, because I honestly worked so hard at making this, you know… absolutely good! πŸ˜‡

Lol, that was all! I hope you enjoyed it! Do you relate to any of these? Let me know a blogging pet peeve of yours, down in the comments πŸ˜€.

Ps- It’s my pal- Riddhi @ Whispering Stories‘ birthday today 🀩. Happy birthday lah, hope you have the awesomest day ever!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ†βœ¨

She started a new blog- Human Book Club. It’s a place where you can share your worries or traits to get some advice from her, or even just to get things off your chest, and that too anonymously. I think it’s a great initiative and it’s going so well and helping so many people! Don’t forget to follow the blog!

  1. I use ‘definitely’ a lot. πŸ˜†
And number 3 really gets me. There are so many amazing blogs we follow and we get the same (no offense, you guys are great..) fifteen out of hundreds? Come on!
Also.. You’re not even close to being condescending, you’re too sweet for that. πŸ’•

    1. I use all those words πŸ˜‚. But never too many times, lol. It just sounds weird for some reason.
And I know right!! I love the blogs I read but sometimes we want variety!
Oh, really!? 😒 Thanks so much, Sheri!!! πŸ’–

      1. Agreed! It does get to be a bit too much!
I know all of the other blogs I follow are still posting, they’re just not showing up.. and It’s starting to feel like the Facebook feed.

You really are! And you’re so very welcome!
Stay safe, hun, and have a beautiful week. πŸ’—

  2. Honestly, you seem obsessed with the emoji “🀩” today. And guess what? Even I have the longpostphobia personally. I seriously don’t like reading my long posts either. And definitely, WordPress is so annoying while not showing all the posts!

But the strikthrough thingy. It I S frustrating. Very frustrating.

  4. The strikethrough thing just infuriates me…but for now my reader is working smoothly, showing all the posts and all. And when people go on unannounced hiatuses, I am like…”Oh…havent heard from X for 2 weeks *kalm*…WAIT DID I ACCIDENTALLY UNFOLLOW THEIR BLOG?? *panik* Oh they just disappeared from the blogosphere…*kalm* wait will they stop posting now or what? *panikkk*”
And I think I do number 1 a lot. Like for words like really, seriously, btw… And yes, when the posts don’t have a specific format, I find myself very lost. It is just like staring at blocks and blocks of words, so I agree that bloggers should use separators, headings as well as images.
And the not responding to comments one just annoys the hell out of me because I overthink everythingπŸ˜‚ Lovely post btw Nehal.πŸ˜„

    1. Lmao 🀣🀣. Yes. That happens! But it’s a relief to know sometimes that we haven’t missed their posts, they just ain’t in the mood of posting anything.
I’m not a fan of “tbh”, I think that’s very overused too.
People must be thinking I hate everything πŸ™‚.
Indeed, long texts do scare me a lot, because my eyes need a little rest from time to time. Even putting some stuff in bold is cool!
You know, same! Especially when the person stops commenting in the middle of a thread, I feel so ignored 🀣.
      Thanks a lot!!! πŸ€—

  5. Lololol, I definitely overuse definitely in my own posts πŸ˜‚ But I cant help it! It’s such a wonderful word to emphasize excitement over books πŸ₯° Although I do usually cut out about half of the definitelys before publishing a post 😁

And I know! The reader is so annoying in so many ways! I also hate how the reader is apparently unable to translate the position of images – so unless you directly visit a person’s blog, you’ll start to think they are absolutely incapable of formatting their posts. When it’s really just the reader with a mind of it’s own! πŸ™„

I love long posts though! 🀩 Both reading and writing them! I’m sure no-one can tell, though πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‚

    1. Yeah, many people use it a lot. In fact, definitely still doesn’t bother me that much, it’s mostly honestly, literally and personally. But yeah, I’m still not a fan of overuse of any of them πŸ˜‚.

Oh man, I know right! It took me so long to figure out that the person isn’t just straight-up crazy, it’s the reader editing their post! πŸ˜’

Yeah indeed, no one can tell you love long posts, ESpecially not me πŸ˜ƒ.

  6. Omg! I honestly loved your post! Personally, I think it’s absolutely hilarious! 🀣🀣
Loved the humor and all the emojis! The same thing has been going on with my reader, I see about 3-4 posts a day even though I follow over 100 blogs… I wonder if there is a way to fix that πŸ€”

  7. Yess these are so true (I’m on a hiatus right now hehe😈) I find it infuriating to see I’ve missed a couple of posts from some people just because reader won’t show them. You had one job, reader. So true.
    LOVE IT.

  8. Yeah I know how annoying it is when bloggers go on unannounced hiatus, just what I’m kinda doin right now but yeah I’ve made my mind to write a post tonight no matter even if Thanos comes here snapping or whatever. And yeah.. too much strikethroughs are really annoying

  9. I have to admit I’m guilty of going on a hiatus here and there… I don’t do it on purpose though, it’s usually when I’m swamped with work and family, or have events going on… Adulting is hard!

  10. I personally also literally hate when people overuse words, like it’s so very definitely annoying! Lol, great post, Nehal! I also went on a blog break unannounced, I became really busy, but it wasn’t on purpose!πŸ˜‰

  11. Now I want you to go through my blogs and give your opinion about it, haha
I love this blog, it is very relatable. WP reader is crap, it completely changes the style of the blog, does not show me blogs of other followers and I have so many other complaints about it.
About the usage of separator, I make sure I don’t write long things, and that doesn’t make my work mundane much (I guess)

    1. I did read a few of your blogs and they were pretty darn good! πŸ‘
I know right! The WordPress reader frustrates us all so much!
And yeah, you have loads of pictures in your posts and paragraph breaks so it’s easy to read your content, which is a good thing.
