Favourite Taylor Swift Lyrics!

Hey Swifties!! Today, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite lyrics from Taylor Swift songs! Beware, this is a long list…

So, before starting, I would like to make a point here that I haven’t heard all the songs by Taylor Swift, for instance I’ve not heard all the songs in The Vault yet, same goes for her debut album. There are also several songs by her that I’ve heard but not heard enough to remember the lyrics. But yeah, I’ve heard most of her songs an hence I’m gonna choose some favourite lyrics from those 😁. Now, let’s get started!!

Note: This list is in no particular order. And not all of these are necessarily my favourite songs. I’m just highliting my favourite lyrics from her songs.

1: All Too Well (Red)

Time won’t fly, it’s like I’m paralyzed by it

But I’m still trying to find it

Honestly, all lines of this song are perfect, it’s hard to choose. But this line is the ultimate best. It’s so pure and raw, and so heartbreaking! And the way she sings it, so soft, is lovely.

2: Begin Again (Red)

I’ve been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does
Is break and burn, and end

The- break and burn, and end part is so sad. The way her voice rises at first and then gets so low at this line just shows the depth of it.

3: I Knew You Were Trouble (Red)

And I realize the joke is on me.

I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
Flew me to places I’d never been
Now I’m lying on the cold hard ground
Oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble…

…When your saddest fear comes creeping in
That you never loved me or her or anyone or
Anything
Yeah

This song is just classy! I mean it’s so cool to sing when you’re happy and so hard-hitting when you’re thinking deeply into the lyrics. The “oh, oh, trouble, trouble” part is so well sung 😍.

4: Come Back..Be Here (Red)

I told myself, don’t get attached
But in my mind, I play it back
Spinning faster than the plane that took you…

…Taxi cabs and busy streets
That never bring you back to me

This is such an underrated song! And it deserves to be among her most popular ones. Isn’t it just purely beautiful?! I mean, what’s not to like? Okay, maybe it’s a little cliché, but it’s still so awesome!

5: White Horse (Fearless)

I’m not your princess, this ain’t a fairytale
I’m gonna find someone someday
Who might actually treat me well
This is a big world, that was a small town
There in my rear-view mirror disappearing now
And it’s too late for you and your white horse
To catch me now

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa
Try and catch me now

I love how Taylor started it as her being like the victim of the love story depicted in this song, and then towards the end, she’s a lot more hopeful, and says how she believes there’s someone better out there for her 😌. True indeed!

6: Mr. Perfectly Fine (The Vault)

Hello Mr. “Perfectly fine”
How’s your heart after breakin’ mine?

Okay, so I actually just heard this song for the second time right now, and noticed the lyrics and stuff, and realized I love it! I mean, it’s so funny and sad at the same time, I don’t know what to feel. “How’s your heart after breaking mine”- this line 😧. It’s supposed to be so sad but the way she wrote the lyrics and sang them makes it a little more satirical instead of hurting. It’s very savage, kind of reminds me of Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo…I mean both the songs remind me of each other. Also, the ending is so sad. It’s like, throughout the song, Taylor’s just mocking this guy and then the end makes you finally think about the hurt she feels. It’s awesome!

7: Picture To Burn (Taylor Swift)

In case you haven’t heard
I really, really hate that
Stupid old pickup truck you never let me drive
You’re a redneck heartbreak, who’s really bad at lying
So watch me strike a match on all my wasted time
As far as I’m concerned, you’re just another picture to burn

Burn, burn, burn, baby, burn

8: Mean (Speak Now)

But all you are is mean
All you are is mean
And a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean

This is indeed the perfect song for bullies. Especially this part, Taylor sang it with so much savageness, oof. *chef’s kiss* I just realized that’s the first time I ever used the phrase “chef’s kiss” 👀.

9: Back To December (Speak Now)

And then the cold came, the dark days
When fear crept into my mind
You gave me all your love and all I gave you was goodbye

I always think that the songs where Taylor talks about how she hurt the person instead of the other way round hit really hard. This song is so sincere. I love how she feels so sorry for the person she hurt and would do anything to change what she did.

10: Ours (Speak Now)

And don’t you worry your pretty, little mind
People throw rocks at things that shine
But they can’t take what’s ours
They can’t take what’s ours.
The stakes are high, the water’s rough
But this love is ours

This song is so cute 😍.

11: Don’t Blame Me (Reputation)

They say she’s gone too far this time

Don’t blame me, love made me crazy
If it doesn’t, you ain’t doin’ it right
Lord, save me, my drug is my baby
I’d be usin’ for the rest of my life

Ooh, this lyric is so cool. The high notes in this song are to die for! Dark, dark dark! *insert the fire emoji coz I can’t find it*

12: Look What You Made Me Do (Reputation)

I’m sorry
But the old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now
Why? Oh, ’cause she’s dead

I freaking love this album! Do you have any idea how hard it is to choose favourite lyrics from what is possibly the biggest masterpiece the world has ever heard 😭. Taylor is so much more full of herself in this one, so different from speak now, and fearless. We love dark Taylor 🤩.

13: Blank Space (1989)

But you’ll come back each time you leave
‘Cause, darling, I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream

Hands down, this line will live on for generations 🙌.

14: Shake It Off (1989)

Hey, hey, hey
Just think while you’ve been gettin’ down and out about the liars
And the dirty, dirty cheats of the world
You could’ve been gettin’ down
To this sick beat

This is definitely not one of my favourite songs by Taylor, but I really adore this lyric. And when you sing it, it sounds so cool!

15: Clean (1989)

Rain came pouring down
When I was drowning, that’s when I could finally breathe

The irony! I have only heard this song thrice, but these two lines are so well-written. And the visual imagery is fabulous!

16: Cruel Summer (Lover)

Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes
And if I bleed, you’ll be the last to know

“I love you, ” ain’t that the worst thing you ever heard?
He looks up grinning like a devil

The “grinning like a devil” part…boy, I cannot get over it! I mean, it gives me chills thinking about it (kinda). And obviously, the dice line is just pure clever!

17: I Forgot That You Existed (Lover)

I forgot that you existed
I did, I did, I did
It isn’t hate, it’s just indifference

Hehe, the perfect roast to all her exes, I am sure. You go, girl!

18: Death By A Thousand Cuts (Lover)

You said it was a great love
One for the ages
If the story’s over
Why am I still writing pages?…

…My heart, my hips, my body, my love
Trying to find a part of me that you didn’t touch…

…Gave you too much but it wasn’t enough
But I’ll be all right, it’s just a thousand cuts

I find the best thing about Taylor is that she uses all these sad moments to make fun songs, which is so awesome! Anyone who can do that…I stan them! This entire song is just too good!!

19: My Tears Ricochet (folklore)

You wear the same jewels that I gave you
As you bury me

This is one of my favourite songs by lyrics because it’s so dark, and so ironic! This entire song has a very tragic vibe to it.

20: cardigan (folklore)

You drew stars around my scars
But now I’m bleedin’

How does she do it?! Write so metaphorically?! I could never…!! And I’m supposed to choose only a limited number of lyrics 🤧.

21: champagne problems (evermore)

I dropped your hand while dancing
Left you out there standing
Crestfallen on the landing
Champagne problems

Your mom’s ring in your pocket
My picture in your wallet
Your heart was glass, I dropped it
Champagne problems

I love singing this song and imagining I have an oh-so-sweet voice, when the truth is that I don’t 😃. But, these lyics are devastating! Like I said, Taylor’s songs about her hurting the other person hit really hard!

22: no body, no crime (evermore)

Good thing his mistress took out a big life insurance policy

This one time I played this song after midnight. Me and my sister were at my uncle’s house, in a city located in a very hilly region, like it was a place where we could literally sometimes see the Himalayas, covered with snow. And I played it after 2a.m. and we were alone in this room and my “elder” sister freaked out 🤣. ‘Twas an amazing night, lol. This particular lyric is so scary. The high note gives me goosebumps!

Phew! That was all. This post took me about 5 hours to finish, and I still missed some of my favorite lyrics 😭. So, you better comment something really nice or it will be a waste, and I will be very angry…and you don’t want to see me when I’m angry 🙂✨. I hope you enjoyed it.   2. I agree to every single lyric here!
    Folklore and red have some of the best lyrics!
    Taylor is the only person who can be sweet, savage, brutal, sad and hopeful everything at the same time. Like all too well 10 mins version, there are so many things we can quote, “you call me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest” and “you kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath”. Like how can someone come up with such amazing metaphors. Likewise for red, so many dang metaphors!🤩 New maserati, crossword with no right answer, change your mind once you’re already flying through the free fall😍
    And yeah rep is good! Look what you made me do is amazing, yes! And the mv damn💥
    And you should really listen to her debut album. The amount of maturity in some of her lyrics is wow and yet you can feel her tennager self surfacing at times. My fav are Tied together with a smile .

      Yes, red has some of the best lyrics, and so does speak now. Ours is another song that has too many awesome lyrics. Red is just a roller-coaster of emotions, too many wow!
      And I know right! The only time I’m able to understand metaphors is in literature workbooks and here she writes such fab lines 😍.
      The MV for lwymmd is the ultimate best. Same for blank space, they’re so savage! ✨
      Oh, I’ve heard a few songs in her debut album like Tim McGraw and teardrops on my guitar. I’ll listen to more of them someday too. 😁

  7. Taylor is a lyrical genius – i LOVE ALL HER SONGS and she’s literally such a talented person. Red from the vault songs are some great ones and repudiation is – what do I say 😭🤩🤩
    Great post – death by a thousand cuts, mad woman, my tears ricochet, seven, CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS and aaaah so many more are such great songs

    NEHALLL I HAVE COME OUT OF MY SCHOOL-INDUCED HIATUS JUST TO COMMENT ON THIS POST BECAUSE IT’S SO GOOD 😍😍 I got into Taylor’s songs very recently (by very recently, I mean like two weeks ago) but I’m already obsessed 😫 Folklore was great, Evermore was even better, and Red (TV) is absolutely amazing?!? My personal favorites so far are:
    —champagne problems (that lyric you chose is my fave)
    —Come Back…Be Here (I agree, way too underrated!)
    —All Too Well (10 Min Version) (deserves every inch of the hype!!)
    —this is me trying (is it concerning that I found this one relatable? 🥲)
    —Forever Winter (this is From the Vault so you might not have listened to it yet but “I’ll be summer sun for you forever” 🥺)

      Oh boy, I know first hand what newly obsession with Taylor swift feels like…it’s hours of trying to study but being too busy lip syncing the lyrics to her songs to pay any attention.
      I actually prefer folklore, but maybe that will change some day. Red is indeed amazing! 🤩 the color metaphors are so clever, I can never get over them! And yes wow, we agree on come back be here!! All too well and champagne problems are awesome songs, I love them so much! The story of us is so fun, I liked how Taylor made her breakup into a fun song. Love story and you belong with me are probably the reason why Taylor has so many fans!! Oh I don’t remember the lyrics of this is me trying but that song has a nice vibe! I haven’t heard the rest, but will do!

      All too well 10 min version is literally stuck inside my head!
      And oh I can’t pick! Speak now and red have some of my fav songs but I like how much more confident Taylor appears in Reputation so maybe that!!
