We all love some unpopular opinions now, don’t we?
Hey Pals!! Today, I am going to be talking about 5 popular series that I do not think I will ever read.
Disclaimer: *sighs* I do not mean to insu-a-a-a *yawns* alt any book *yawns* or autho-o-o-or through my pos– *dies of boredom*.
*Nehal’s ghost has replaced her*

Thanks for thine help, thou art a disgrace to me π.
So anyways, moving forward, let’s start the post!
1: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Ahem, so first off, I don’t think I like the covers anymore. They do look great when Booktubers hold them up in their hands but uh, really not my type though. So basically, I watched this video, which if you want a good laugh on a bad day, you should watch too.
But the video has some a lot of crude humour so watch at your own risk. I binge-watched Cindy’s reviews for all the books in this series in one go and laughed my head off and my day got a whole lot better…and yes, I realized that this series is not for me π.
I’ve read Throne of Glass but I dnfed the series in the middle of the second book, not because it was bad or anything, but because I was just not finding it a book that is “of my type”, not my comfort zone basically. I am not a fan of high fantasy and world building. I know most people love it but I don’t usually care for settings and various dangers on worlds that are new to me, for some reason. I also do not feel myself inclined towards fairies as main characters. Acotar has that too and I am pretty sure that there is no point in reading it. Plus it is very smutty, as Cindy has made sure to point out all too well. And these books are so huge! And now I basically know the entire story and I really don’t think I’ll like it. I don’t wanna force myself to read something I won’t like.
2: The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson

I know, I know, you want to kill me. But beware, it’ll only end up in my ghost taking over and annoying the hell outta you~
Okay so, I’ve had a bad experience with this author. I tried reading The Final Empire but I’m still stuck at page 100, it’s just so boring π. And people keep saying how great it is, but I’m just sick of Kelsier smiling at every little thing…I mean, how much can anyone smile?! I’m telling you, every time he smiles, I cry. It’s like- Kelsier smiled π, Nehal cried βΉ. I will still try to push my way through this book after exams, till then, I’ll remove every single book by this author from my TBR pile.
It’s not even that I do not want to read this series, I would love to give it a shot but I am just so freaking intimidated by the amount of pages. I mean, the first book is over a thousand pages and I know that Sanderson’s writing is really slow and people struggle through this series so I just cannot bring myself to pick it up anytime soon. I wish I could, but I can’t. And seriously, no offense to anyone, it’s just not for me.
3: The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

14 books π©.
I’m sorry, has there been a mistake?!
*frantically googles how many books are in this series*
Google- 20 π.
I’ve officially lost all hope in humanity BECAUSE THIS IS RIDICULOUS!
Something about the ugliness of the cover of the first book in this series intrigues me and makes me want to pick it up. But it’s also giving me Lord Of The Rings vibe and that was another book series that didn’t work for me…I am sorry to all the people who are hardcore fans of this series, but I can’t torture myself by committing to something this long. I’m the kind of person who gets scared when someone says “trilogy”, you can’t expect me to read 14 books, it’ll kill me!
4: His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

This series has got some really mixed opinions on GoodReads. Many people think that this was a really slow series and to be honest, the fact that it is high fantasy is just enough for me to not want to pick it up. This was actually on my tbr pile but the only time that I see myself picking this up is if I actually get the physical copy of the series. I am just not drawn to it, you know? Like I don’t feel myself wanting to read it. Maybe this could turn out to be one of the best books I have ever read if I do read it, but I don’t really think that will ever happen.
5: Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger

This is the one series on this list that I wish I had read this earlier, like when I was 13 or something. I have no idea if I’ll like it when I read it now or not, and a part of me is dying to pick up the first book and read it right now! But first off, I am not at all excited about reading a long series using all ebooks, second- my bookshelf is full, so my parents ain’t allowing me to buy books too π, and third- just in case I do get addicted to this series, it’ll be a bad influence on my studies…plus yeah, a bigger part of me just knows I don’t wanna read it because it’s so long and I don’t think it’ll be that good. Who knows though? Maybe I’ll give it a shot someday…maybe.
So, that’s all for me. I hope you enjoyed this post. Have you read any of these books? What are your thoughts on them? Should I give them a shot? Is there a popular book that you have no interest in reading? Let me know in the comments π.

Ps– Before ending this post, I would just like to wish my buddy- Ashmita, a very happy birthday! I know she ain’t gonna do much, but I hope she has an awesome day!! Happy cake day, our dear ghost π». Love you loads!! π«πβ¨
COMPLETELY with you on ACoTaR my friends have read it and they were so done with it lmao

Ooh, I don’t plan on reading A Court of Thorns and Roses too! I love fantasy, mind you, but I don’t want to read this one…
Keeper of the Lost Cities is a fun read, albeit a teeny bit cringy at times. You should give it a shot!

Good to know that π.
Oh, haven’t heard someone call it cringey, lol. I might read it some day.

Oooh I read the first two books in the keeper of the lost cities a while ago and it was pretty ok( a bit cliched but not too terrible )but stopped after that because the series is literally never ending ππ great post!

That’s what I’ve heard too, I guess π. I’m still debating myself whether I should read it or not.
Thanks a lot, Suhani!!

I see many comments about KOTLC. Fair bit of advice – DON’T READ IT. Reading KOTLC is one of my greatest regrets in life. It’s super cliched and the pacing is all over the place and I hate Sophie with all my heart. So yeah.
I can’t see myself reading any Brandon Sanderson books anytime soon either. Wow are they intimidating… Great post and I agree with your ghost. (Wow, I’m a poet now!) You really must stop dying every post. Some studies say dying could actually make you not alive, so that’s something to look out for.
If you need me, I’ll be bracing for impact after my KOTLC rant.

Okay, I assume Sophie doesn’t have much of a personality then π. Yes, I’m never reading kotlc then, I can’t stand a main
female lead who doesn’t have a distinctive personality.
Yes, I know right! I thought everybody was gonna read Sanderson and make me jealous π.
Oh looking dead should be the next trend π€©.
LikeLiked by 1 person
She has the personality of a wooden photo frame. That’s just delightful.
And looking (or being) dead HAS been a thing ever since humans existed. I’m planning to commit to the trend after a loooong timeπ

Me too. Let’s make living the trend for now π.

I agree with you on ToG and the rest of the series. I gave up midway of book 2 and never looked back. I donβt think SJM is really my kind of author.

ππππ I mean, you know how I feel about Mistborn and The Stormlight Archive π€£ Sure, they do take time to get into, but then they’re so good!!! π₯° But yeah, if you’re not a huge high fantasy fan, I’m not sure if forcing yourself to continue is the greatest plan… You’ve really got to love magic and politics and intrigue and slow character development to appreciate them π₯°
And if you think Sanderson is slow, I think you’ve probably made the right call avoiding The Wheel of Time – that series is about a hundred times slower and kind of repetitive plotwise, so I’m still debating whether I should continue on with it π
ACOTAR though? Cindy’s reviews on that series are spot on π Any fantasy elements it has are hugely overshadowed by all the smut… But sometimes, it’s so bad that reading it is absolutely hilarious! I snorted my way through ACOSAF this year, and then cackled some more while writing my review. Those books are just badly addictive π
And I still really want to read The Golden Compass! (Being evil, I’ve already seen the movie π )
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes true, I was actually thinking of you when I wrote all that stuff about kelsier π. And yeah, I mean I don’t wanna give up on the mistborn series at least, I have all the books in paperback π.
I love neither of them π€. I’ll see.
Oh thank goodness, I’m so sure I won’t like wheel of time π.
And yes, I know right! Cindy’s reviews were so hilarious. I mean the way she roasted these books π€.
How’s the movie for the golden compass?!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Of course, I see – you were purposefully trying to break my heart πͺ
And The Golden Compass movie was definitely interesting enough to make me want to read the books! Also, it ended on a huge cliffhanger and they never adapted the sequels to screen, so if I want to know the rest of the story, I suppose I have no choice but to read them ππ

PLEASE this list is so good. you basically pointed out ALLL the books that are either cringey romances (Acotar) or horribly ripped off serieses (kotlc.) I’m probably going to give say 1 or 2 books in the series a try but… eh not a big fan.
also YES withcindy’s videos are hilarious xD Have you seen her movie roasts?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ah, thank goodness. I’m not regretting my decision of not picking them up either then π.
Oh yea, I have. Especially her movie roasts of the kissing booth, lol!!!!

I don’t blame you for choosing not to read these seriesπ€£. As a Sanderson and a Jordan fan I admit those are some intimidating series and needs the right time to be read. You may not feel it now but maybe in the future it might happen. If not then that’s fine tooπ. As for SJM, I am not a huge fan of her even though I have read her books. They are a bit.. problematicπ.

Exactly! I feel like my tiny 15 year old brain is still trying to process the fact that ICSE has divided boards into two semesters to worry about massive worlds with terrible rulers π. Thanks for commenting!
LikeLiked by 1 person
I have heard some crazy stories about ICSE board. I know it’s tough. I am CBSE so I was always relieved that I didnt have to go through itπ. I also had decided long ago that I would never read the wheel of time but then I got hyped about the show and I have been on a marathon with that series. It was too addictive. I like to believe that the series found meπ. You should read whatever makes you happy.

Indeed, icse is doing some really weird things because of covid, and we students are getting our brain cells destroyed because of it π€.
I’m so glad the series found you π. Many people do enjoy it! And yes true, people should indeed read what they like!
Also, sorry for the late response, I somehow missed the comment π .

I don’t even want to know how much time it took u to type this. But π Cindy’s review of acotar series was soo right and yet so wrong. π
And I give up on keeper of the lost cities too. I wish I had read it when I was younger. π Just can’t get into it now. And I hope to read wheel of time one day π€ and Brandon Sanderson too π€
