Discussion Post: 5 Popular Authors I Need To Give A Try

Hey Pals!! Today, I am gonna be talking about some popular authors whose books I haven’t yet read. These are the authors I am yet to give a try and I feel like I should.

Spoilers: By the end of this post, I’ll probably lose half my followers because of the wonderful list I have here πŸ™‚.

1: John Green

Yes, you read right. John Greeeeeeen! I haven’t read a single book by this author, and yes, that includes The Fault in our Stars. There isn’t much of a reason for not reading his books except that I was never much of a YA contemporary romance reader and so I have recently gotten into these kinds of books. Everybody keeps on praising this author and I think I will read a few of his books quite soon.

2: Maggie Stiefvater

So many people are all in awe of the writing style of this author. I don’t care about any of that. The reason I want these books is purely because of the gorgeousness (that’s a word, right?) of these covers. I have never seen any book covers as beautiful as these. This is the probably the part where you realize that yes, I judge books too. But I can’t help it, these covers are goals, man!!

3: Brandon Sanderson

I know πŸ˜—, I know 🀐, I know 😬! This is getting more and more unpopular and I bet many of you are probably wondering what in the world is wrong with me.

But here’s the thing: I discovered this author pretty recently and I just haven’t gotten around to reading any of his books. The other trouble is that I don’t know where to begin. I do own The Mistborn Trilogy but I am not entirely sure why I haven’t read it yet. I gave it to my sister as a birthday present and currently she’s reading the first book so I’ll just wait until she finishes it. And then… I’ll probably still not read it πŸ€ͺ but I’ll think about it.

4: Laini Taylor

The Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy has been on my TBR since forever. I have been avoiding it mainly because of, well, content. I feel like this is a dark series and so up to this point, I haven’t picked it up. But I was always so excited to read it. I think that the books in this trilogy have amazing covers and I have heard so many praises on Booktube about this author’s books that I can’t help but feel that it’ll be worth reading.

And now, to add the cherry πŸ’ to the cake πŸŽ‚, I have:

5: Rainbow Rowell

Please don’t kill me πŸ˜•!!

Like I said, YA contemporary romance wasn’t my thing until a really long time. Believe me, all of these books are on my TBR, I’m just waiting for that right moment to come, that moment when something happens that hits me with the sudden irresistible desire to read Fangirl.

Have you read any of these authors’ books? What are your thoughts on them? Do you think I should give them a try in the near future? Do you have a similar tbr? Did you just unfollow me 😱? Let me know in the comments.

That’s all. Thanks for reading. Stay safe. Ciao!!

  2. I read The Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater and loved it, so I definitely have to read her other series now. I’ve never read anything by John Green either, so don’t feel too bad πŸ˜‚.

  3. Lovely lovely discusion. You are definetly not alone. I haven’t read any books from this authors too! I also havent read any SJM or Tolkien. Oh and the covers for Maggie Stiefvater’s and Layin Taylor’s books are just amazing.

    1. Thanks for the sweet comment 😘. My original draft did have SJM πŸ˜† but I read throne of glass last month so I had to remove her. And I’ve read two by Tolkien but I’m not a fan at all πŸ˜›.
      I know right 😍

  4. I have yet to read a Brandon Sanderson either. I’m a huge fantasy fan so it’s always being recommended but there’s just so many damn books where does one start?!
Maggie’s writing is fantastic and I agree those covers are gorgeous!

  5. I’ve read Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but only the first book because I thought it was really weird. Not bad, just weird. Also, I had other things that I wanted to read at the time, so I moved on.

  6. Well, having read books by all these authors, I hereby give you my obviously very unbiased opinion that you should try most of them πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I’m not a huge fan of John Green or Maggie Stiefvater, but all those other books you mentioned? Those are some of my all-time favorites!!! You need to read them! πŸ€—πŸ˜‰

    1. πŸ˜€ glad to know that!!
Oh yeah, I’ll read my first john green probably the day my exams end πŸ˜‰.
πŸ˜† ah yeah, we readers have a tendency of not reading books from our tbr piles πŸ˜‚

  7. Hello! Just perusing blogs and I found yours.
Don’t worry, I haven’t read any Brandon Sanderson, John Green, or Laini Taylor. But you must read The Raven Boys (so far it’s amazing atmospheric fantasy, although I’ve only read book one so better get to that). And Rainbow Rowell really does write cute contemporaries that appeal to even me, a person who is very picky with contemporary-romance. Fangirl is my favorite!

    1. Hey there!! EnchΓ nte πŸ˜€!!
      Glad to know that 😁.
Oh yeah, I’ll pick raven boys up soon enough, I’ve heard so many good things about it. Oh and as for fangirl, I’ll read it before the end of the year itself πŸ˜ƒ.
Thank you so much for reading and visiting, I’ll just go check your blog…

  8. Don’t worry, you’re not alone!
I mean…I’ve read like three books by steifvater, and two books by rowell and one book by sanderson (3, 2, 1) but hey, that’s not many! Oh, I’ve read John Green too, one book, but…still haven’t read many! So don’t worry!

      1. Yeah, I liked Carry On. Wayward son was not as good in my opinion but I still liked it. But I wouldn’t say these are must-read authors, I mean they’re certainly well-known but there are a lot of books out there and these just may not be books you feel like reading! For example: I have never read a cassandra clare book or an sjm book (I read ToG several years ago but don’t remember so that doesn’t count). I also have never read VE Schwab (but I want to and hope to soon)

      2. I know right!! These aren’t must read authors. I recently finished the first book and the Throne of Glass and I am continuing the series, the mortal instruments but after 3rd book things got pretty Dark so i decided to give it give the rest of the books a shot later.
And I have recently 3 read Victoria swabs books and only like to one of them πŸ˜›

      3. Yeah, I just…they’re so loved and well known by some people but I’ve also heard some really bad reviews of them and there’s just so many more original books that just sound more interesting to me. So I don’t want to read those books if there are others that I want to read more.
Hmm, interesting. I’ve seen a lot of people who absolutely ADORE Victoria Schwab and they seem really interesting to me. I’ve heard that the writing style is different or something? So maybe that’s it. I’d still like to try them though!

      4. πŸ˜‚ yeah, hype can’t be trusted.
Ah well, I’ve read city of ghosts (which I liked) and tunnel of bones (which was just meh). Then I read the near witch which I found super boring 😴. I will still read more books by her though, I’m hoping to read addie larrue soon πŸ˜€. People are loving it so much!!!!!

      5. Ha, yep that’s true.
Oh, cool. Well I was planning on reading addie larue but I’ll have the check out city of ghosts as well! Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of good reviews of Addie Larue. But then again…hype can’t be trusted πŸ˜‚

  9. I cannot believe that you haven’t read any of John Greens and Rainbow Rowells books at all.
Like come on…. fault in our stars is like must read! I am so surprised. Trust me that you will not be disappointed in the slightest. However, Eleanor and Park did ruin me and I was disappointed by the ending! 😭
